  1. Wasn’t he out of eligibility anyway?
  2. The only real IUFB game day tradition is tailgating beforehand and never actually making it inside the football stadium.
  3. I think it’s debatable whether he should take the Wisky job or hold out for a better one, but I think it’s definitely a better job than Cincy. Wisky is in the PSU/MSU tier of job, imo. The Big 10 and the SEC are going to be the two premier conferences and everyone else will be a step or two down. I’d rather coach a top half of the Big 10 job than a top 3-4 job in the Big 12.
  4. We won’t be able to land a big name but we can land someone better than Tom Allen (which wouldn’t be very hard). The rest of the league is loading up. Nebraska a couple days ago. Wisconsin now. We’re going to cement our spot at the bottom of the conference if we don’t make a move. Dolson needs to do something.
  5. Penix has 381 yards tonight. We didn’t throw for 381 yards over the last 3 games of the season :(
  6. Crazy that Allen had him at 4th string. He can’t really throw, but the team did better with him than anyone else by far.
  7. Six years of Tom Allen down, two more to go.
  8. Okay, but the lack of stands doesn’t have anything to do with Berger’s injury and whether playing in a ballroom caused it. And the complaints I’ve seen on Twitter were all about the fact they were playing in a ballroom, until it was pointed out that it’s not uncommon. Then the complaints shifted to the atmosphere/lack of stands.
  9. No. They play plenty of basketball games in ballrooms but everything has to be an outrage these days.
  10. Michigan State stinks this year. If Tom Allen is still here after this season it’ll be a big failure by the IU administration. He’s done.
  11. I want our players talking ****, staring guys down, etc. Sometimes you’ll get T’d up for it but that’s ok. The advantages of having that mentality outweigh a few techs here and there.
  12. Geronimo is an athlete who’s trying to learn how to be a basketball player, imo. Contest him with a guy like Reneau. You can immediately see how skilled of a basketball player he is. We have a giant hole at the wing. It’d be great if JG could fill it. But he doesn’t have the skills at this point.
  13. Depth is overrated in basketball anyway, imho. I’m not worried about JHS. He’ll be fine. Malik was great. He should be starting and playing 25+ mpg. He’s legit. Free throws need work, but he didn’t let that bother him and made back to back great defensive plays to seal the win. Kopp is very controversial, but he’s the closest thing we have to a shooter. He probably needs to play, the lineup that closed plus Race and Galloway are your 7 guys, imo. Bates and Geronimo competing for 8 and 9.
  14. Good win. We don’t have near the depth that some people thought we had, but that’s ok. The best teams ride their best guys. Find your top 7 (maybe 8) and play the others as foul troubles/injuries require.
  15. The boys needed a slice of humble pie. Can’t let the ranking/preseason predictions get to their heads. They mean nothing if you don’t show up and show out. Hope Woody tears into them at halftime and a different team shows up in the second half.
  16. Wish this was a 7:00 or 8:00 tip-off tonight. 6:00 is just too early.
  17. Eh, that depends in part on how much credibility you give to that season. I personally view it as a complete fluke. Players opting out, players missing because they were in protocols, no fans, etc. We had a chance to prove it wasn’t a fluke the following season and, we’ll, we went 0-9 in the conference. Regardless, those teams were all mediocre to bad football teams in 2020. Wisky was 4-3, PSU was 4-5, Michigan was 2-4, and MSU was 2-5.
  18. Accountability has never seemed to be a thing under Coach Allen. This year we have losses to Rutgers, Nebraska, and Maryland. We also lost to Cincinnati, and we’ll probably lose to Purdue and a very mediocre MSU team. Last year we lost to Iowa, Maryland, Rutgers, Minnesota, and Purdue. Allen doesn’t get to lose to schools of that caliber and then whine about how hard it is to win against Michigan, OSU, and PSU. Like dude it’s not just those schools. You can’t beat anybody.
  19. Is that $1 million specific to football? If not, we should use the whole $1 million on basketball. Might bring us back JHS and Reneau or land us a big 5 star in the 2023 class. Football is a lost cause until Allen is fired. Spending NIL money on it is as useful as lighting your money on fire.
  20. Yeah I really hate the notion that we need to take a coach’s likelihood of staying into consideration when hiring a coach. That’s a sure fire way to lower the quality of the candidate pool. We hired the guy who’ll “stick around,” but now we’re begging for him to leave. Sucks to say, but an ambitious coach probably isn’t going to stick around IUFB. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t hire him if he’s willing to come to town. And you never know, a coach might stick around unexpectedly. Everyone thought Brohm would leave Purdue yet six years later he’s still there and going bowling once again.
  21. Crazy watching our former OC and QB killing it together while we’re one of the worst P5 teams in the country.
  22. I see way too many “it’s IU football, what do you expect” comments. Sure, it’s IU football. I accept that we’re never going to be a national title contender. But there’s a wide gap between national title contender and national laughingstock, which is what we are now. There’s no reason we can’t consistently fail somewhere between the two. Unfortunately we’re stuck where we are now for the next two years because of Allen’s buyout.
  23. My expectations coming into this season? I fully expected this season to turn out how it has turned out because Tom Allen is a god awful coach. But generally? There’s no reason we can’t be an average football team. The worst team in the conference isn’t something we should accept.
