Eh by most accounts Fife was an abrasive **** no one liked being around. Not worth it for an assistant coach. We didn’t exactly set the world on fire in his year here either.

Matt Painter recruits guys we’d never want and somehow finds a way to get them to produce. I remember scoffing when @btownqb said we should recruit Braden Smith and now Painter has him starting/playing 29 mpg on the #1 team in the country. We regularly lose to teams with less ‘talent.’ Whatever happens to guys once they arrive at IU is beyond me.

Fans complaining on a message board aren’t why our team gets thumped at home by freaking Northwestern. The fans did their part today trying to energize the players. The players just lack the give a **** needed to show up and compete for a full 40 minutes. When you go from a GOAT level coach to the past 2 decades we’ve had of course you’re going to see a ton of negativity. It’d be no different if UNC or Kansas or UK dealt with what we’ve dealt with. Those schools just wouldn’t ever let it get to that point because they actually care.

Then tell him he needs to bring in cleaner kids and work with him, don’t fire him and nuke the program in the aftermath. We could’ve been Houston, but being able to preen about our moral superiority is a nice consolation prize.

Could be, just don’t know what that would be. We’d have to pay them $1 million per canceled game. That’s no small sum for a program that made its coach pay to fire his OC .

Ahh 2015, the Zander Diamont era. I figured it was scheduled a while ago with how far in advance they schedule football games. The fact he scheduled it then makes it even weirder to me. Louisville was coming off a 3 year stretch where they went 11-2, 12-1, and 9-4. Did cool dad think he was scheduling a basketball series?

I wouldn’t blame them for not scheduling schools like Louisville. We have a hard enough time being in the B1G East. But just don’t schedule these games in the first place. Trying to back out later is weak sauce.

Yes. Allen needs all the easy wins he can get to try to salvage his job. I wonder if IU will try to get out of the ND series too? Idk why they scheduled them in the first place. IU being a crappy program needing easy wins isn’t something new.

They changed the rule in 2001. You can’t camp in the lane for more than 3 seconds, but it’s used from time to time. The Heat use it more than most teams. During his time as the Knicks’ head coach the zone was actually used more frequently than the years after (before its resurgence in the past couple seasons). It increased in popularity after the Mavs used it successfully in the 2011 Finals.

I mean, they play zone defense in the NBA. Not frequently, but it’s played.

The same year we hired Woody we saw Chris Beard leave Texas Tech for Texas. And if it doesn’t work out for Duke/UNC, they won’t hesitate to fire their guys and swing for the fences. It’s not like it’s UNC’s first time replacing a legendary coach.

You can rearrange the pieces within the program but nothing will change until the program drops the holier than thou attitude and decides to operate like a real elite sports program. I know you’ll just respond with “I’d rather lose every game than do that” like you always do, but there’s your answer. We handcuff ourselves with our recruiting and then refuse to pony up for the caliber of coach you have to have if you want to win big while driving the speed limit. Dolson’s big brain idea to resurrect a floundering program was to hire a 63 year old mediocre former NBA head coach with zero college experience. Mike Woodson isn’t a bad coach. He might even be above average in college. But he isn’t elite. He isn’t Tony Bennett. He’s not going to win big without elite talent, and the IU program refuses to uncuff the staff and let them do what needs to be done to get it.

UK fans would have quite literally burned down Rupp Arena if they had our last 20 years.
