  1. You absolutely are writing him off 2 games into the season. Saying he can't defend Big10 guards, etc. Well we play in the Big10. So in your mind, we just recruited benchwarmer. I'll let his games do the talking.
  2. The real solution is to work to get a good shot, and then take it -- whether at the rim, from 3, or whatever.
  3. Why. So we can pick up middle school Bob.
  4. That's just the thing, this early in the season. We have seen maybe 80-160 mins of basketball. Coaches have seen them for that long each day. One more game and then we can decide if this team is a bust. :)
  5. Sure, but let's at least give him a chance before we call him a "liability." Geeze.
  6. Cupps is a liability? You smoking something?
  7. It re-sets every November, though. :)
  8. Ok, my $.02. I'll agree with watching the girls teams -- they'll tend to play a more "historical" basketball. Also, anything from the IU 80s and early 90s -- some games available out in youtube land. I don't think you'll find a lot of today's NCAA teams doing a lot and probably no NBA teams. As above, if you can find a team today running the Princeton offense, there will be some good stuff (Bill Carmody at Northwester ran it a lot -- so you can search for some of their video). Some of the best teaching you can do is put him in situations, either via video or on the floor, and simply ask the question -- ok, what do you think you can do here? He'll start to develop 2-3 options for each situation. And eventually will learn them and make them a habit. But it takes a lot of time. Good luck.
  9. Panic? After 2 games. Come on man. So here need perspective. So our "highly touted 5 star recruit" has only played 2 more NCAA games than me. Patience grasshoppers. Patience. (And yes, we may get run out of the gym by UConn. But the world still isn't ending)
  10. I came here looking for the "fire Mike Woodson" thread. A bunch of Debbie Downers. Granted, last nights game sucked. Team was flat. But is there a worse game time than Sunday night? I wasn't even 100% for watching it. :) Lots of new faces. Only 2 weeks in. Sure there is practice, but practice isn't games. Games are just different -- faster, every play means something, etc. So you're going to have growing pains. Unfortunately, UCONN comes up really fast, so they better get it righted quickly. Let's see how they bounce back against Wright State.
  11. Much more versatile. Lots of options to go with. Going to be fun.
  12. Woody is really hurting. I hope the guys pick him up.
  13. I agree. He had a great way of breaking down the game.
  14. RIP Coach. I too am glad he decided to come back the past few years. Like him or not, he did a lot for IU and the program.
  15. Come on folks. It's Friday before the season kicks off. Time to drink that pre-season kool aid. Elite 8 or bust. You heard it here first. And if it doesn't happen, someone obviously hacked my account. :)
  16. That's why you have to take a hard look at a guy like Pat Fitzgerald. Yes there is "baggage" (depending on your perspective). But he's had success at a less than stellar program. And may have a little red a$$ in him for what went down at NW -- has something to prove. And he's under 50. Otherwise your looking at some smaller school up and comer or an assistant somewhere -- with no record in the big time.
  17. Where is the final four this year? Gotta get my tickets. :) This team is different than last years. I think we’ll be much closer to the team CMW envisioned. Last 2 years he focused feeding TJD. He even admitted that’s not a system he coached before . This year we won’t see that as we have different players. Does that mean more wins? Fewer wins? A lot of factors go into that, but we’ll see. I have pre season hope we’ll be something special.
  18. I know nothing about this particular guy. But the problem with an offensive or defensive "guru" (or even focused) is they tend to be one dimensional. I want a football guru. A guy who has the ability to adjust whatever his "guruness" is to the talent he has at the time. Take a guy like Belichick. "Defensive" guy who ended up managing one of the best QBs to play the game.
  19. Some of you guys believe Jesus Christ himself will be coming down to coach. It ain't happening fellas. You want a guy with HC experience, then you're looking at some small college dude using it as a stepping stone. Need a guy with a chip on his shoulder who is going to prove to the world that he can do it, regardless of the circumstances.
  20. Because CTA is chitshow. Some guys can do it, many cannot -- and this includes many "experienced" coaches. Hell CTA got worse with experience. Some guys just know how to win -- and that is what we need.
  21. It's freaking football not rocket science. Granted experience can tell you something, but there are enough "experienced" guys who crap the bed as well. We need a guy with football intensity and the passion to build a program. I guy that knows football -- offense, defense, special teams. Has an offensive philosophy. And a defensive philosophy. That lives and breaths the stuff. And then can sell it to the recruits. Whether he's put a practice together isn't dispositive -- the dude in line at Kilroy's can figure that out.
  22. Then arrest for loitering. But you’ll need a complaining witness.
  23. Police need a complaining witness. It’s a quasi public location. You have never been in a parking lot after hours?
