Maybe not. But he did, in fact, leave the Taco Bell parking lot. Sure, it could be viewed as a smart a$$ move. But technically, you can no longer arrest for trespass at Taco Bell. You'll need a complaint from the new property owner.

Yep. Would have been much better if after they figured out who he was they started a conversation about the upcoming season, Woodson, practice, classes, etc. Deescalte the situation and send him on his way or even meet his dad when he shows up. I can go back to the days when my kid got in trouble. High school party, busted by the cops. 1:00 am call to come get him. The fact that the cop came to the car, talked about how we were all stupid kids once, and told me how they were going to proceed was expertly done. Could have been very bad for my kid and several kids there.

If I am local Taco Bell marketing, he gets a big NIL deal. Something about a new taco that makes you go "insane" at 2:00 am. :) Make lemonade from lemons.

Of course it does. Otherwise it wouldn't be a police report. I have yet to see one which said -- "dude was completely innocent, but we arrested him anyway cause we had nothing else to do on our shift." :)

Actually, if you're going to keep arguing the point, get the "facts" correct. He was asked to leave the drive thru -- where he was apparently blocking their ability to conduct business. He did. He was then asked (apparently after discussion with TB employees) to leave the parking lot. While he did not leave immediately, he eventually did. But then returned to an adjacent parking lot (presumably to wait for his dad?). They had zero right to arrest him for a TB trespass as he was no longer on their property.

Yeah, plus there might be a few more. Who knows about Michigan and Harbaugh?

I think the IU job is potentially a better job than NW. Fitz was an aberration at NW -- he was going to be a lifer there, no matter what. That gave the program some stability these past 15 years. Their stadium renovation is going to get caught up in political piss and moan and they still have an admission issues with potential recruits -- it's tough to get in. Their NIL will likely lack the rest of the Big10 as well.

So are you giving us another "fact?" Interestingly, I was at Taco Bell for lunch. Two dudes walked in wondering where the heck their mobile order was. The manger told them they had to click here or there, depending on pickup thru drive thru or inside. They had to wait for their food. Granted, cops weren't called. :)

Actually, it's not a good look for IU and future recruits. We complain about the facilities, the cheerleader uniforms and the pregame music. If I'm a prospect, I certainly want to know I won't get hassled late night at a freaking taco bell.

There isn't an employee at a Taco Bell that knows what a criminal trespass is. They called because some dude was yelling at them for his food and wouldn't leave the drive thru. :)

The problem with an alumni football coach is they still didn’t come from a tradition of winning. So what’s the point? Pat Fitzgerald is available. Has the experience and IU would be an upgrade in terms of facilities, fan base, and ability to get players accepted to school. Probably comes with a chip on his shoulder too.

That’s just it. If he went to a different parking lot, there technically is no trespass. Sure it can be viewed as a smart @$$ move, but not illegal. Busting a window to make an arrest under those circumstances is pretty iffy. Which is why Chris may have said charges would eventually be dropped. Don’t forget, these kids have money now and can afford big $$ lawyers.

Right. But what caused the cursing out of the employees? It’s not likely he pulled up and said “get me a fkg taco *****.” Something happened which lit the fuse. That may or may not be relevant to his reaction.
