  1. Yeah, not up to Texas standards but way way way above ours. :)
  2. You have to be an honest evaluator. Why would any current head coach drop his current gig and come to IU? Former coaches, maybe especially if you have some baggage and need that "second chance" -- thus Gruden and Fitzgerald. At the end of the day, your looking for that fit. The guy who wants to be here and has sold his ability to build up the program. Doesn't matter if he was a head coach, assistant coach, or working the door at Kilroys.
  3. So just to be clear, the "smart language" you give the genius as MSU credit for is in every contract and usually stuck in by the lawyers. But you overlook that fact that he apparently hired a turd. Ok, whatever.
  4. Where is this "official" list? We are just hearing chit talk from people.
  5. Sure, but at the time who could predict that CTA would crap his pants in two short years. Had he made it to year 3, the buyout was much more serviceable. At least give Dolson credit for finding the money for the buyout to end the suffering.
  6. It’s not the guy’s last position that matters. We need a coach with a vision, and some piss and vinegar to see that vision thru. Someone who knows where they are going with the program and how to get there. And won’t blame NIL, facilities, or the cheerleading uniforms.
  7. Uh, Jim Harbaugh called a play while QB for Chicago. There’s an epic video of the aftermath. :)
  8. That would kinda be IU football, wouldn't it. :) Anyway, he didn't really say that. He said it would be "ideal" to trot the new coach out to the fanbase at the basketball game. I'm not sure why that would even matter.
  9. Got the bears the number one draft pick too. :)
  10. Can't be any worse than the last 2 guys. :)
  11. And two dudes named Bledsoe and Brady. :)
  12. Past performance doesn't guarantee future results?
  13. Bring back the chuck and duck. :)
  14. Just remember that coach "we had" isn't coaching anymore.
  15. If you remember, Woodson told him to "Zoom" his way over and speak to him in person. :)
  16. IDK. Seems like too many. Had plenty of time to create and vet a short list.
  17. Actually I would want football players that would kick peoples a$$ for trying a “car wash.” :)
  18. I don't fault her for that. We really don't need anyone with baggage if we can help it.
  19. So in what SPECIFIC ways does the university not support the football program? Like someone asked above -- what support to CTA lack between 2019/2020 and 2022/2023. And if you're going to give me "facilities" what specifically are we lacking (acknowledging full well that Mellencamp pavilion is due for an update).
  20. No f'ing way. The Bears hire search firms to find GMs and Coaches and always end up with piles of hot chit. Better off throwing darts.
  21. How much you spending? IU has a ton of obstacles to overcome for football. The biggest is it's lack of any history of success. You're not going to be able to buy your way out of that history. You need to build it one brick at a time. You need a coach that can set the foundation and build a program from there. But good players want to play for a winner. So you have to figure out how to win with what you got. That's 100% coaching. Sure support him, build facilities and whatnot. But if he can't win a football games because he's a moron -- i.e.; makes all sorts of in game coaching errors -- it's not going to matter.
  22. Ferentz was 12-21 as a head coach in college. By that record he would be considered a real hard NO by many hear. LOL. :)
  23. How you going to win in the Big10 with 3 and 4 stars?
  24. That's kind of the point. IU will never have the Michigan, OSU, Alabama, etc. recruits. And, like you said, if we get a dude who can play at their level, he's gone. IU's coach will need to have an adaptable system based on the team concept -- a sum total better than the individual parts. If we get a coach that needs a 5 star QB to compete, we're doomed.
