  1. Unless he has a gear we haven’t seen yet. But these guys doing the stars suck.
  2. It does. Win is win. There are moral losses. :)
  3. This was a complete lack of effort game. The lazy “we got these guys” until they punch you in the mouth game. But It’s a win fellas. Time to move on.
  4. I don't even think you have to have that. I assume Woody is a reasonable guy and he knows he no spring chicken. Really it's a matter of keeping the lines of communication open each year (and during the season) on what is going well, what needs work, and the best way to transition to the next guy. I am sure he doesn't want see IU go south because he wants to hang on to the gig.
  5. I would want to see a decent foundation set within the first four years. I think we have that in terms of "sending kids to the next level," especially if Ware goes this year or next. The big hole that I see is the pipeline of HS recruits. IMO, need to be bringing in 3-4 kids per year, and filling holes with the portal (rather than the other way around). Year 1: 2 (Duncumb/Bates). Year 2: 4 (JHS/Renue/Banks/Gunn) Year 3: 2 (Cupps/Newton) Year 4: 1 or TBD. Kind of need a splash this spring if possible and then get a better pipeline going forward.
  6. Darn right. And we all slept at the Holiday Inn last night. :)
  7. Why are you insulting awful coaches? :)
  8. I saw something last night where they posed the question -- Dusty starts looking at open spots for next year, say Louisville. His team reaches out to Dolson to let him know "if you want Dusty, now is the time." Then what?
  9. Sure, but would that be because he drank too much the night before. :)
  10. Woodson ain't going to be around for 15 years. That the beauty of the hire. Get and experienced coach, former player loved by most, and set a foundation. Once the foundation is set -- he retires having "righted the ship" and find the guy who is going to take you to the promised land.
  11. Time to start that fire woodson thread. :)
  12. It's been quite clear for some time that it's the cheer leader uniforms.
  13. Yes but I think JHS is a better athlete and can be drafted on potential. He certainly turned it on after X got hurt and was impressive with how quickly he picked it up. MM on the other hand looked like he never played basketball the first few weeks. Coming along now though.
  14. They give you 5 for crying out loud. Use them or loose them I always say. :)
  15. First day on this board? Places is full of Debbie Downers. :)
  16. Unless he's insane, he's staying. He hasn't shown near enough to be NBA material, imo. He's not a jump out of the gym athlete -- so "potential" isn't there as much. And right now, his results are really freshmanie. Maybe he breaks out big in the second half of the season.
  17. Things don't move in a straight line. But I agree, the lack of HS recruits in the pipeline is a concern. IMO you need to be bringing in 3 solids per year, and can fill gaps via the portal. Which begs the question -- I though Kenya Hunter was supposed to be such a recruiting guru?
  18. One point does not make a trend. Long way to go.
  19. Game tomorrow. Only a few more hours to blather on, until the sky will be falling again.
  20. As long as we fire Woodson in a timely fashion, all good.
  21. Look how that turned out. The Sampson debacle is really why we’re here today. Self inflicted, sure. Bit it’s why we are here. It was the equivalent of the “death penalty” given to SMU football. Look how long it’s taken them — 2 decades to come out of the wilderness. It put a stink on this program like no other.
  22. The donor class make gazillions of dollars. Don’t you think they know how to fairly assess success, failure, and accountability?
  23. Sure but three out of the five years before he started, they were in the tournament. There was a level of consistency there. IU had not been to the tournament in the four years (plus Covid) before Woody. You don’t think it matters. But we weren’t relevant at that point. Tough to get great players went you don’t sniff the tournament. It’s easier to rehab a house than build one up from the foundation.
  24. The difference is those programs have been able to maintain a level of consistency between hires. None of them ever had to play baseball players to field a team. You can’t underestimate how those broken years destroyed the program. IU basket essentially became irrelevant. It wasn’t the place to play. We got lucky landing Zeller and those few teams, but then it wasn’t sustainable. We need sustainable success to work our way back.
