(2018) SF - Jerome Hunter Transfers To Xavier
TheWatShot replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Wow, a coach with a plan. Haven't had one of those in awhile. -
Andrew Dakich has to be like 25 by now.
-
I'm torn on Crean's future. On one hand, I want him to coach somewhere so we can play his team and embarrass them. On the other, the longer he stays unemployed, the more egg the media will have on their faces for saying we made a mistake or that he got a raw deal.

IU athletic department ranked 41/65
TheWatShot replied to WayneFleekHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I'm just glad they weren't using results from 2008-09. We were pretty close to Rutgers territory back then. -
The Pacers needed to start rebuilding after Stephenson left and West opted out. All they've done since then is waste two seasons acting like making the playoffs in the East is some sort of accomplishment. I look at the trade as a necessary evil. Keeping George on the team results in another 7-8 seed (yawn) then he leaves and we just start the rebuild a year later. It would have been nice to get draft picks, but no team is giving up draft picks for a one year rental. Honestly, getting Oladipo with his IU ties is a bit of consolation. It may even help IU in recruiting. On one hand, it sucks seeing who I believed would be the centerpiece of the Pacers well into the 2020's leave like this. Then I think of the stupid stuff he's done, his lack of leadership and the fact that this LA thing had probably been festering in that locker room for awhile, and I have no problem with moving on. Not going to wish injury on him, but if he hurts his leg again, I won't feel bad.
-
Boeheim is scum, but he's still far more knowledgeable about basketball than Crean. Then again, you could probably say that about most coaches. Crean doing any kind of analysis on draft night was comical.
-
Eastern Michigan? Crean got fired just in time. He'd be sh*tting his pants in the days leading up to that game. They play 2-3 zone and I think their coach is a former Syracuse assistant. They also have a big man that had quite a few high major offers but was passed up because of off-court trouble. That game would have had Eastern Washington/LIU-Brooklyn potential if Crean was still here.
-
The Pacers apparently think they can still get the #2 pick. I'll give them an A for effort. If the Pacers ever picked in the top 7-8 of a draft I'd think they were a different organization.
-
Pacers are going to emerge from this with nothing but sloppy seconds. Not holding my breath.

We have no way of knowing what's happened behind closed doors, but if PG is going to act like this after all the support this organization and fans gave him when he broke his leg, he can just go to LA and **** himself. I hope the dude gets booed mercilessly whenever he returns to BLF. Anybody who gets a stripper pregnant and gets catfished by an elderly man is too dumb to be leading your franchise anyway.
-
I never felt like he was fully committed to the Pacers; I'm not sure why anyone did. Oh well, this just expedites the Pacers' plunge into NBA purgatory. I wish I could feel more upset, but the last three years have made me increasingly apathetic.

Rutgers should be thankful they aren't in the MAC, if the MAC would even want them.

About a year or two ago, I said that someday, we'd have a perfectly normal coach doing perfectly normal things, but after X years of Crean, we'd think he was a savant and we'd eat it up. Well, after all these years of Crean offering a few dozen more scholarships than he had to kids not on anyone else's radar, we witness Archie bring a kid in for workouts, but send him away because he's not good enough for this level. Business as usual at a traditionally successful program, right? Yet we be like "OMG! WE DIDN'T OFFER A PLAYER WHO VISITED!! WHAT IS THIS?!!"
-
Some of these names...good lord. How did Crean even find those kids? I mean, we always wondered where he came up with some of the teams to fill out our nonconference schedule, but any coach with an internet connection and the attention span of a 10 year old can go online and seek out teams that have been terrible the last few years running. It's almost like that's what he did in recruiting...but in recruiting you want what's at the other end of the spectrum. Maybe he just had it backwards. Or maybe he thought it was schedule bad teams and recruit bad players so it's less noticeable how bad they are. Or maybe...whoops, just spilled Diet Coke all over my flash cards.

(2019) C Kofi Cockburn to Illinois
TheWatShot replied to goonaha's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
At least his parents didn't name him Richard. -
Didn't Crean once offer a kid without ever even seeing him play? Somebody on his staff recommended the kid and Crean pounced. He later retracted the offer when the kid wasn't generating any interest from other high majors. I firmly believe that someday, decades from now, when historians are analyzing IU basketball, their greatest question will be "how did Crean make it 9 years?"
-
I'm still trying to wrap my mind around having a coach that another Big Ten team wanted. It's been a long time since that was the case.
-
Personally, I think it's cute they actually thought they could get him.
-
But totally expected, coming from them. I'm glad this is out in the open. Let it be known that OSU wanted our basketball coach, and he wouldn't budge, even to what was thought to be his dream job. I'm sick of hearing OSU fans act like their basketball program is on par or a better job than ours now.

Chris Holtmann named Ohio State Head Coach
TheWatShot replied to FortWayneHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
You spelled ACC wrong. -
Wow, I never knew he got swept twice in the first round. Not surprising I guess, since people act like the only years he played basketball were 92-98.

(2018) SG Austin Boucher
TheWatShot replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
This is why there are people who feel kids should go to school all year. Also, you never answered my question the other day: what schools is Austin going to play for this upcoming season? -
He got fired, correct? If somebody fired me, I sure wouldn't be recommending them to anyone.

The last time UK was this young, they ended up an 8 seed. So let's put them on the 1 line anyway. ESPN loves them some Kentucky Fried Kittens.
