Ah you’re right. St. John’s is closer to quad 2 than I thought. But even if they get there it seems we’ll have to get very lucky for our OOC resume to have more than 1 single quad 2 win. I agree we have plenty of opportunities to build that resume in conference. I just still have a hard time seeing more than 19-20 total wins and really don’t think that includes enough quad 1/2 wins to do it. However, I absolutely welcome you telling me I’m wrong all the way through selection Sunday.

We will end the non conference with our 2 best wins being quad 3 wins. Hopefully ND and St. John’s get it together and become quad 2 wins but both are far from it right now. I still don’t see a tournament team.

I hope we use some cupcake games to focus on this. Or really any way to get more open 3s for Stewart and Kopp.

I don't mind the Gavitt games. If I had to pick one of either the Gavitt games or the Crossroads classic to go away, I'd say the Crossroads (so I got my wish!). Regardless, I'm pumped for this Kansas home and home. I've got 2 friends who are Jayhawk fans and we've already committed to attending both of these games. Can't wait to take in a game at the Phog, but sorry, I'll be bringing 2 hawks fans to Assembly in 2023.

The combo here is just…it’s just mind bending almost. The blatant disregard for playing at full speed in real time along with how the attempt to argue against the rule change actually justifies the rule change. Wow, chef’s kiss!!

I've secretly been hoping that you'd come tell me that I'm wrong and I probably just need to go eat a banana and sit outside for a while. :-) I remain skeptical, but the tournament resume guru's level-headedness is helping. Thank you!

True that no quad 3 or 4 losses is good but quad 3 and 4 wins are meaningless as well. And w/ our schedule, 21 wins could mean 15 or so quad 3 and 4 wins. Which might mean a combined something like 6-11 or 6-12 in quads 1 and 2. I don't think that gets it done.

With how weak our non-conference resume will be, I really don't think .500 in the conference will do it. We have to hope that St. John's has a great season just to have one single decent non-conference win. So if we look at our 10 most winnable conference games, likely none of them are really resume builders. Maybe 1 or 2 of those wins could turn into quad 1 wins by the end of the year. On the flip side if we end up at .500 but managed to pull out 3-4 quad 1 wins that likely means we had some bad losses along the way. I think even at 11-9 in conference we are sweating it out. I'm personally having a hard time seeing more than 9 conference wins. I really hope I'm wrong.

Agreed. So basically it's pretty simple...DL, offensive playmakers, and OL. And well maybe a QB. Probably LB too. Secondary seems alright but some depth there wouldn't hurt. I wouldn't be mad at a TE. Is there a trainer and strength coach portal. We need to hit that hard. Water boys/girls maybe. So yeah, pretty simple.

The two biggest surprises to me on this board this week was how many people seemed to think we would and should win this game, and how many people think this is a tournament team. I unfortunately thought to myself...wow I can't believe we'll probably blow a 22 point lead. It's hard for me to see more than 18-19 wins as well and that won't include enough quality wins to get in. Maybe the last 4 years combined with this football season just completely ruined me.

Hopefully this now means we are on the lookout for a QB in the portal.
