Game Thread: 10/2 @ Penn State - 7:30 - ABC
NashvilleHoosier replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Unfortunately, I can't agree. I think it was only a successful (clearly, no questions asked successful) 2 point conversion. :-) These highlights were encouraging for reasons I didn't expect. Mainly that up until that last drive, Penix was pretty awful. Which means he started last season pretty poorly and improved until injury. So now I've unfortunately got myself thinking we'll most definitely turn this season around. Great. -
Agreed. For the most part I enjoyed how he broke down things during a basketball game. But his radio/social media/etc. persona will fit in perfectly with the Clay Travis theatre.

Remaining 2021 Season Predictions
NashvilleHoosier replied to Lebowski's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
The best part about this scenario is that we've become so dominant that it appears Minnesota didn't even bother to come to B-town and Purdue let us know not to bother coming up there, both just handing us the wins. I'm on board. -
It does strangely feel like the immediate future of this program has been riding on this 2 game stretch (last week and this week). To your point, a 1-3 start almost certainly turns into a 1-4 start and possibly a 1-6 start. The momentum this program has would virtually disappear and, whether true or not, would give credit to the theory that last season was a fluke. Tonight is a must win.

Pretty cool to see Scott Effross is up with the Cubs right now.

I’ve done everything in my power to not believe….until yesterday. There may well be some magic happening here. 2011? That’s a different level of belief!!

The only football game that will be televised on CBS at night will be the SEC game of the week. I think where games are televised are determined by the home team. C-USA's TV deal is primarily with CBS Sports Network and some streaming services, to my understanding. The only C-USA events that make it to CBS are things like the men's basketball tournament championship. My guess is CBSSN saw a power five (nationally ranked opponent at the time) on the schedule for one of their team's and snagged the rights for it to be their primetime game as soon as they could b/c it's an easier game to promote and have a bunch of people trying to figure out how to subscribe to watch.

Look buddy, speak for your own lady time outcomes. I for one hope it's the same outcome as lady time!

Hoosier Hysteria date set - 10/2/21
NashvilleHoosier replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Any word on whether there will be an option to watch/stream? -
I won't entirely disagree, but we've really only seen him in 3 total halves? Prior to the Penix injury last season, he only really played in mop up duty right? The Wisconsin game was his first college start, and then he played nearly half if not more of the bowl game with a separated shoulder after nearly a full month break of very limited practice. His stats from the Wisconsin game don't jump off the page, but he made some really nice throws in that game and would have had 1 more TD if not for an inexcusable wide open drop by Marshall. Add in all the reps he got with the first string in the spring and I'm starting to be more confident we'd be in better shape with him in there.

Uhh...wut? I'm not sure which part you're going after here. If you're saying there are far better IU connected folks to run an NIL collective, much like the HH guys have set up, then yeah I'll agree with you. If you took my post as suggesting that people will venmo these guys money to funnel to recruits while they interact with them....that's not what I was saying. My point was that they're now in a position of connecting players with NIL opportunities. Any interaction with a recruit should be cut off simply b/c it could be perceived as some sort of booster/under the table $$ moment. Maybe not, but if I'm a rival school, in this case Illinois, I'm all over this trying to pin something on these guys and their NIL collective to get IU in trouble for recruiting violations.
-
What's unfortunate is the whole NIL collective thing they are doing could actually be extremely beneficial to Indiana. I don't know much about NIL stuff, but I'd be shocked if it's okay to start getting incoming recruits involved in that. So, beyond the creepiness of how they interact with recruits, they especially need to cut that $hit out if it's going to land us in hot water b/c of their NIL efforts.

Game Thread: 9/18 vs. Cincinnati - Noon - ESPN

Agreed, I just wish there was a 21-25, 312 yards, 3 TDS performance mixed in there against Idaho. -

Sparty is way better, Michigan is way better, PSU is way better…Maryland and Rutgers are better. Minnesota and Purdue aren’t going to be easy. 6-6 currently seems like a pretty daunting task. -

I've got a bad feeling about this one. Any other time, losing to a top 10 team at home wouldn't be much to worry about. But it just feels like this game could make or break our season. If it's a hell of a game and we lose, I won't lose hope for the season yet. But if it ends up something like 35-16, with a tricky away game next week before heading to PSU.....oh boy. -
21-22 Men’s IUBB Schedule
NashvilleHoosier replied to OldBuddy67's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Anything less than 20-11 here would be disappointing to me. I'll go with 22-9. That stretch from January 13th through 23rd feels like it will be pivotal. -
Yeah, I saw that too. I was only wondering if there would be any available through our ticket office before going to any after market sites. But that was also what my follow up question was about...what section will IU fans be concentrated in if I have to go the stubhub route? I had also emailed our ticket office and they've already responded saying they don't have any tickets available and to contact the WKU ticket office. So I'm not sure if IU got an allotment that is already sold out of if we didn't get an allotment at all.
