  1. I say make it a 3 game series over 2 days but day 1 is a two 7 inning game double header. You get to carry 1 extra pitcher and 1 extra position player that day. If game 3 is necessary it’s winner take all the following day. It could be fascinating to see how day 1 plays out, matchups managers go for, etc. And regardless it’s either 14 innings of teams deciding who is better or a draw that leads to the winner take all game. And I also agree on reseeding. No way the Dodgers should have had to play in that game last night. The biggest problem in doing that is there will inevitably be teams who get rewarded by having a slightly better record playing in a weak division over a better team who plays in a tough division but finished a game or two worse record-wise.
  2. One of the best things about soccer is knowing exactly how much time you'll need to dedicate. Speaking of DVRing, now that I think about it, I set the game to record last night but only put an hour extension on it. I would have gotten 4 hours in only to realize it didn't capture the last inning. I would understand that if it were a 13 inning game.
  3. I love it and hate it at the same time. The win or go home baseball game is the best and most interesting baseball game. But when everything else about baseball is based on a series, it doesn't make much sense to have a one game elimination with such high stakes. A 3 game WC series would still be great. That said, the Cards were a week plus removed from the win streak. Given the choice of trying to beat the Dodgers in a 3 game series on the road, or 1 game w/ Waino on the mound, I'm taking the chance at the single elimination. Other things I'm pouting about: Reyes was the absolute last pitcher I wanted to see on the mound in a high leverage situation. 0-11 w/ RISP.....oof. Nearly 4.5 hours for a 9 inning game that produced 2 runs until the last swing of the bat is entirely unacceptable.
  4. I do like their pre Mandy Moore stuff far better.
  5. Just got offered a free ticket to Dawes at the Ryman tonight. I’m incapable of making this decision on my own. Tell me what to do.
  6. I’m just hoping that this is an indication that we can totally beat Maryland on the road.
  7. PSU - 31 IU - 9 Defense plays admirably well and this one is close at 17-9 with about 7 minutes left. We never get anything going offensively. D finally breaks and gives up a big run to go down 24-9 and then a late pick 6 puts it away at 31-9.
  8. Man we need to get Miami or FSU booked for a home and home soon. I don’t care how bad they are, IU football beating a brand like that would be fantastic, and would only strengthen our Florida recruiting pipeline.
  9. Unfortunately, I can't agree. I think it was only a successful (clearly, no questions asked successful) 2 point conversion. :-) These highlights were encouraging for reasons I didn't expect. Mainly that up until that last drive, Penix was pretty awful. Which means he started last season pretty poorly and improved until injury. So now I've unfortunately got myself thinking we'll most definitely turn this season around. Great.
  10. Agreed. For the most part I enjoyed how he broke down things during a basketball game. But his radio/social media/etc. persona will fit in perfectly with the Clay Travis theatre.
  11. The best part about this scenario is that we've become so dominant that it appears Minnesota didn't even bother to come to B-town and Purdue let us know not to bother coming up there, both just handing us the wins. I'm on board.
  12. I agree. In many ways I’ll take the win regardless of how it looked b/c that was a total trap game. But I’m not confident we find 4 more wins looking at our schedule. Which is why I said we saved our chance at a bowl. If we lose that game there wouldn’t even be a chance.
  13. Saved our chance to make a bowl game. Not impressive though.
  14. Victory formation. 33-31. I guess we did it.
  15. This is bad. We’re going to leave them way too much time.
  16. You kidding me? This has late TD and onside kick written all over it.
  17. Big favor there. I don’t know how the WKU staff didn’t believe they could convert that.
  18. We’ve let their offense get in rhythm. I predict 48-36 Hilltoppers. The dream is dead.
  19. It does strangely feel like the immediate future of this program has been riding on this 2 game stretch (last week and this week). To your point, a 1-3 start almost certainly turns into a 1-4 start and possibly a 1-6 start. The momentum this program has would virtually disappear and, whether true or not, would give credit to the theory that last season was a fluke. Tonight is a must win.
  20. Pretty cool to see Scott Effross is up with the Cubs right now.
  21. I’ve done everything in my power to not believe….until yesterday. There may well be some magic happening here. 2011? That’s a different level of belief!!
  22. "Oh, hey everybody. How's it going?" - The Cardinals :-)
  23. The only football game that will be televised on CBS at night will be the SEC game of the week. I think where games are televised are determined by the home team. C-USA's TV deal is primarily with CBS Sports Network and some streaming services, to my understanding. The only C-USA events that make it to CBS are things like the men's basketball tournament championship. My guess is CBSSN saw a power five (nationally ranked opponent at the time) on the schedule for one of their team's and snagged the rights for it to be their primetime game as soon as they could b/c it's an easier game to promote and have a bunch of people trying to figure out how to subscribe to watch.
