Agreed. I always pull for big ten teams in the non conference. We will certainly have a much better chance of winning games this season but far less chances at high quality wins.

Where does IU Football go from here
NashvilleHoosier replied to Hoosierfan2017's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
I think Matthews, Anderson, Carr and Kramer were pretty solid pick ups in the portal. And maybe even Carpenter...seems like the only time the O-line looked even half way decent has been when he is in there. Carr just didn't get the chance to prove much behind a terrible line. But, you still make a good point. I remember reading where Allen wouldn't take anyone in the portal that didn't have some sort of previous relationship with a player or coach in order to protect the culture. That policy needs to be thrown out the window. We don't need to take anybody and everybody, but we shouldn't be limiting our options in any way. If someone can play, give them a good look. Our culture means very little if we're losing like this. -

True. We’d get beat 28-3 by Duke….with again our only score a Chucky Camps FG as time expired. -

It’s now down to us, Duke and Vandy as the last P5 team w/o a conference win. We’d beat vandy 3-2 on a Chucky Camps FG as time expired but I’m not sure about Duke. -

On the flip side, why play the season out? If the rankings are what they are, why re-rank when the games are played and we find out if a team is worth its rank? Reality can cover a wide range of things. Reality #1 is we had an incredible season last year and beat teams IU football never beats and we should all be grateful for that. I enjoyed the hell out of it. Reality is also that our wins vs. ranked teams were not great wins b/c those teams weren’t actually worthy of being ranked as was proved as the season played out. If those wins were great wins we’d have been an absolute lock for a NY6 bowl. Yet in the context of IU football, really good wins. Both, or all…I can’t remember how many (excellent) points I’ve made here…can be true. -

Sure, but firing for style points would have been after week 4 or 5. Doing it now, while I’ll still agree isn’t going to change much, would be more to send a message. And maybe give someone behind that coach a chance to prove themselves in the role. -

Nothing's going to happen right now....I mean I guess waiting until the end of the season is fine. Doesn't really matter at this point I guess. But that was a job losing performance and effort. Whether that be staff or players who need to lose their starting job. With nothing left to play for but pride and facing what is the best chance to get a win the rest of the way and we come out we put in our worst effort of the season, getting embarrassed by a really bad team. It's hard to believe the staff have the locker room at this point. I have a feeling Coach Allen knows what changes he's going to make already. Why not pull the trigger on Monday after a performance like that to shake things up and let everyone know how unacceptable it is? -

Wrong, idiot. Obviously this staff is willing to take chances. -

1:03 left and 2 timeouts in desperate need of putting points in the board. This will be 2 runs up the middle to pack it in for the half like a bunch of cowards. -
My wife really wanted to rent some movie the other night. I started to say nah, let's wait, I don't want to pay $20 to watch something one time. I paused and thought about this game, then said, sure, you may rent a movie you'll be able to watch 1 single time for $20. That's fine. I haven't brought up the game tonight yet, but I'll be watching it.

Oh yeah, same, that name will stick with me forever. I distinctly remember us being on the bubble that year and one of the discussion points being that, well, technically IU should have one more win b/c that shot probably shouldn't have counted, but it still counts as a loss. And then were were left out. Not that we would have got a bid if that shot was waived off, it just felt like even more salt in the wound.

I just realized that I attended the last IU basketball home game where fans were allowed. Which is crazy b/c that seems like about 12 seasons ago now. -

Just an all around completely gutless offensive effort with, as you said, nothing to lose. -

Well yeah I don’t see the whole class falling apart but if the few guys who jump are the best players in the class (and they’ll be the ones with the most people in their ear), then it becomes a pretty normal class, which I will consider falling apart b/c I’m at a maximum level of pouting right now. -

Looks like signing day isn’t until Feb. 2nd? Oh boy…with how college football recruiting goes I won’t be surprised to see our great class fall apart. Between that and the ease of jumping into the portal, LEO is going to be put to the test this off-season. -

I can’t understand how many times we fair catch a kick off when our offense can’t get anything going. Why not take a chance on the return to get better field position?
