  1. I would not feel bad if the JBj of the past was not back. I am extremely curious to see what a new JBj could be.
  2. Huge news. If rumors are true, the first direct benefit of our new coach has already manifested itself.
  3. Well that's different, and more than fair in my mind. I think however that many of the criteria listed by Glass other than the local ties do not favor Alford.
  4. Before we destroy your list... be fair: You listed the negatives for every other candidate. Now, YOU list the negatives for Alford too. Start with Pierre Pierce and move through "everywhere he's been no one seems to have been especially been glad he was there." Once you do, he will be destroyed far worse than the others.
  5. Yup , the best player in the whole stinkin' NBA for a year or two could play a little! [emoji6]
  6. Aka... Janitor is reading message boards?
  7. Coaches like his mentor, Huggy Bear. Pressure and warp speed. He's also pretty old for his new gig at 54.
  8. Dakich could have very easily said "Alford to IU is done." He didn't, and he didn't define what "it" is.
  9. I get why the piece happened. I get why the Harbaughs feel the way they do. Doesn't make it true.
  10. It seems to me that IU absolutely has someone in place, and possibly a less experienced but young and local guy like Holtmann or Fife in line as a fallback.
  11. Bye bye Norseynorsey :(
  12. C'mon ... Norseynorseynorseynorsey!
  13. A Norse is a person from either: Norway or, Northern Kentucky (!)
  14. Dem Kensucky freshmen are in for a very difficult experience on Sunday. WSU is a terrible draw for an inexperienced team. Hehehehehehehe
  15. Not too bad for a Kravitz piece.
  16. Easy with the personal insults, guys. Strong opinions are the lifeblood of the message board, personal insults are not. Thanks
  17. I think it's a really good article that describes exactly how it feels from the perspective of the Creans and Harbaughs. It also crystallizes the extraordinary effort that Tom Crean put into the IUBB job and the Bloomington community. However, Tom Crean's well-intentioned but manic personality, and the corresponding coaching results fostered a deterioration of trust by the IU Administration, and that, coupled with a string of unacceptable coaching results, led to the firing.
  18. Hulls, Lewis, Micah Shrewsbury. Those three would lock up the state of Indiana far, far better than Steve Alford, Ed Schilling, and Kory Barnett ever would.
  19. My assistant coach preferences list: Michael Lewis Jamie Young Jay Larranaga Jerome Allen Micah Shrewsberry Walter McCarty Matthew Graves Terry Johnson That oughta cover it. ;)
  20. Irony, thy name is Kentucky.
  21. A quick tangential giggle for you all: A post from Rupp Rafters from a thread about the IU coaching search: "Well you know there iU fans for a reason , there not very smart lol !!"
  22. It would be excellent if someone could pick out the attributes that Fred Glass cited yesterday, and list them as quotes in bulleted format.
  23. Michigan Jim Harbaugh $9,004,000 + John Beilein $2,760,833 Ohio State Urban Meyer $6,500,000 + Thad Matta $ 3,400,000 Penn State James Franklin $4,500,000 + Pat Chambers $1,000,000 Iowa Kirk Ferentz $4,500,000 + Fran McCaffery $2,000,000 Michigan State Mark Dantonio $4,300,000 + Tom Izzo $3,525,359 Northwestern Pat Fitzgerald $3,350,638 + Chris Collins $1,400,000 Nebraska Mike Riley $2,800,000 + Tim Miles $1,650,000 Wisconsin Paul Chryst $2,700,000 + Greg Gard $638,500 Maryland DJ Durkin $2,412,000 + Mark Turgeon $2,360,121 Indiana Tom Allen $2,000,000 + ??? Purdue Darrell Hazell $2,190,000 + Matt Painter $2,428,795 Rutgers Chris Ash $2,000,000 + Steve Pikell $1,600,000 Illinois Lovie Smith $1,809,179 + John Groce was $1,700,000, new guy should be at least $3,000,000 Minnesota Tracy Claeys $1,400,000 + Richard Pitino 1,200,000 Takeaways? If we spend about $5.5 to $6 million annually on a basketball coach, we would STILL be only fourth or fifth in the B1G on combined coach salary. If we spent $7.5 million annually on the new basketball coach, we'd still be third in conference!! The basketball program budget is set to be a serious beneficiary of the long-term Tom Allen deal.
  24. Great coach. Great recruiter. Approved
  25. From the basement to the mezzanine.
