This, but there's a reason for it: For the last IU B1G championship year, IU was the only team not to have played a team that went 15-3 in conference: They didn't play IU.

Our basketball players want to play basketball games! It's almost as simple as that. If we want the players on the team to want to play for Indiana, and to continue to want to do so no matter who the coach is, restricting them from playing in competitive games would be big time counter-productive.
