FWIW, early in the Wilson tenure, I was not a fan AT ALL, and it had little or nothing to do with on-field performance. Wilson had a personally destructive way of conducting himself away from football. It bled into his interactions with players, the media, and fellow bar patrons, and it was well known in Bloomington. I'm fairly certain that with Fred Glass's mindset, Wilson was put on some kind of notice that his personal behavior had to change. Given the recent (relative) success and upward trend of the program, it seemed as though that had happened.
Now, I can reasonably speculate that his personal behavior backslid in a way that was unacceptable.
