TOM CREAN FIRED

More wisdom Coach Crean has picked up from various IU message boards:   1)  Replace Dwight Shrute haircut with a rockin' mullet! Jaybob 2)  Use them new-fangled transistor radios to scout opponents. John Freed 3)  When all else fails, drink heavily! KyleHornsbyRules 4)  It's hopeless. We suck. IUfanCharlie 5)  Trade Joani for one of my 12 ex-wives! 5fouls 6)  Run Sloan-screen 45, dammit! GoColts 7)  We may not always play well, but the players are...dreamy!  MrsBigCodyLukeMaxPope 8)  Pssst: If these players let you down, there's a three star in Schenectady that I have good video on.  ccgeneral and hoosierpap

Congratulations to her, and the entire women's team.  Although they didn't finish they way they wanted to, the future is nothing but bright!
Not afraid to admit I'm not totally sold on Coach Crean, even last year with the season we were having I did not think Coach Crean's in-game coaching, and adjustment skills were carrying the team, but rather a senior laden team, and Victor Oladipo's self-motivation.
It was pretty unbelievable what Vic did for that team. He single handedly won games last year. One that quickly comes to mind was at Iowa on New Years. One of the most impressive individual college seasons I've ever seen. Back off of the ledge everyone or this is getting locked.  No need for the pot shots on either sides.  I laid out the ways to close this.  No need for the drama.  Stop making everything personal, even if it is toward Crean.

  11. ^^^^^ YES!!! Crean's offense looks UNSTOPPABLE when shots are dropping, and it really is impossible to stop when that happens. (See UNC game last year). I'd say Crean's offense is 75% fast break, 10% secondary break, 10% turnover and 5% Half court sets. The turnovers isn't a jab at Crean or the offense, when you play that fast they are going to happen. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

  13.
1) Cal won the title though, and that gives you more slack. Like it or not, Crean does not and should not have the slack of a championship coach. 2) The rebuild is over, expectations shifted. It's no longer "look what he did" it's "can he take us where we should expect to be".
I would argue that it should actually be "can he take us where we should be" instead of expect to be. If I've learned one thing since starting this site, it's that it is IMPOSSIBLE to ever meet Hoosiers expectations :) We could go undefeated and win the National Championship and there would be fans who find issues with something! Sounds like a post from someone who is so concerned with the embarrassment of being wrong that he can't enjoy a win over a ranked team. A win by a team that is young, but without any question is developing, improving, and rallying behind each other, their senior leader, and their head coach, Mr. Tom Crean.
Agree. Then why isn't our focus every game to play to that strength? I'm watching the replay of ohio State and we aren't playing that way. But Ohio State could nt have played much worse and we hit outside shots.
I honest think Tommy saw the charts I put together in the How Indiana wins post. His comments seem to me like he know now that we need to push the ball and shoot quick to win. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

  19. IndianaPreps ‏@IndianaPreps  19m Indiana's Young Guns http://wp.me/p2mWG2-it  via @IndianaPreps #INPreps          Fort Wayne has a couple of potential national recruits at the quarterback position. Carroll’s Aidan Smith and Luers Noah Wezensky are leading the way in the class of 2016 in Indiana. Wezensky possesses the skill set and mechanics to land several big time offers. Wezensky earned an offer from Akron his freshman year. Aidan Smith is as smooth as they come. A fluid passer and enough zip to beat defenders closing on the ball. Smith, a varsity starter last year is making a name for him self this Spring at camps and could have plenty of offers heading into his junior season.   None may be better than Brownsburg’s signal caller in Hunter Johnson. Johnson stepped in as the starter for the 6A program as a freshman. Leading to solid numbers in a heavy run oriented offense. This offseason, Johnson continues to hone his skills and make physical gains in the weight room, standing 6’2 and weighing 185 pounds. He has a live arm and knows when to add touch. He’s capable of extending plays and moving the pocket with his legs as he possesses 4.6 speed. The 2017 prospect has the potential to be the biggest quarterback prospect since Gunner Kiel. Recruiting is also picking up steam for Johnson, whose older brother is a player at Northwestern. There are few other names coaches will need to pay attention to.   Aidan Smith, Fort Wayne Carroll, class of 2016 Link to HIGHLIGHT   Noah Wezensky, Fort Wayne Bishop Luers, class of 2016 Link to HIGHLIGHT   Brandon Peters, Avon, class of 2016 Link to HIGHLIGHT   Jack Smith, Bloomington North, class of 2016 Link to HIGHLIGHT   Hunter Johnson, Brownsburg, class of 2017 Link to HIGHLIGHT

Honestly I can't understand why people are wanting Crean to be fired. When you lose 4 out of 5 starters the next year, you're obviously not going to do as good. When you're playing mostly freshmen, some results aren't gonna be pretty. I hate using old whiner Calipari, but he goes from winning a title to losing in the first round of the NIT. Did he get fired? He only won that title because he had 6 first round draft picks. If this core goes a couple of years without improving or winning, then talk to me about the man who turned the Indiana Basketball program around. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
