Class of '66 Old Fart Posted March 6, 2024 Posted March 6, 2024 We currently have competitors in 17 events. Not bad at all and a chance to add more later in March. https://iuhoosiers.com/news/2024/3/6/womens-swimming-and-diving-nine-swimmers-all-five-relays-qualify-for-ncaa-womens-championships go iu bb 1 Quote
BeerBQ Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 This situation is strange. I assume he is done at IU, but wearing the full gear is a different choice. Edit to clarify that Braden is with SwimSwam which is one of the biggest swimming news sites there is. go iu bb, Class of '66 Old Fart and WayneFleekHoosier 3 Quote

He's been training with someone else (I don't remember where, west coast/CA, I think) since early in the season. Hasn't competed for IU. What's weird is how both he and Ray don't really give answers when asked. Such an odd situation. go iu bb 1 Quote

I don’t understand why neither side has said he’s stepping away from college to focus on LCM or something generic. go iu bb 1 Quote
go iu bb Posted March 10, 2024 Posted March 10, 2024 Not IU: ASU destroyed the PAC-12 championships. I believe they won all but 2 events and set multiple records. They are so good, and it's not just Marchand. I don't know if they tapered more than Cal for this meet. Probably did. I guess we'll see at the championship meet. go iu bb and Class of '66 Old Fart 1 1 Quote

go iu bb Posted March 21, 2024 Posted March 21, 2024 The women are tied for 7th after day 1 at the NCAA championship meet, mostly due to 5th in the 800 free relay. The relay had some great swims by the Hoosiers. https://swimswam.com/2024-womens-division-i-ncaa-championships-day-1-finals-live-recap/ For day 2, they have 3 swimmers who will be swimming in the evening. Anna Peplowski will be the 2nd seed in the 500 free A final. Kristina Peagle and Ashley Turak will be swimming in the 50 free B final. https://swimswam.com/2024-womens-division-1-ncaa-championships-day-2-prelims-live-recap/ Class of '66 Old Fart and go iu bb 1 1 Quote

The 200 free relay finished 8th. go iu bb and Class of '66 Old Fart 2 Quote

BeerBQ Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 Sounds like they had a solid afternoon. Peplowski ended up 2nd and McKenna 6th. The team is in 7th. Anyone know where they were projected to finish? The 5-10 range seems right to me but I’m not sure. Class of '66 Old Fart and go iu bb 1 1 Quote

They (swimswam) usually base those on how they think teams will place at the meet. go iu bb Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 Last day of the championship meet. IU has 2 swimmers poised to score points in the 100 free. Peplowski is in the A-final and Peagle is in the B-final. Ching Hwee Gan will probably score points in the 1650, she's the 3 seed. IU is also the 9 seed in the 400 free relay. Diving prelims are happening now but they should have at least 1 diver scoring points. Skyler Liu is the 12 seed entering prelims. go iu bb and Class of '66 Old Fart 2 Quote
go iu bb Posted March 24, 2024 Posted March 24, 2024 IU finishes in 7th place. Ching Hwee Gan (3rd) and Mariah Denigan (7th) scored in the mile. Peplowski (7th) and Peagle (11th) scored in the 100 free. The 400 free relay got 8th place. https://swimswam.com/2024-ncaa-womens-championships-day-4-finals-live-recap/ go iu bb 1 Quote
go iu bb Posted March 25, 2024 Posted March 25, 2024 The men could get a big boost from the divers, who have done well at the zones. This projects IU to finish 4th. https://swimswam.com/ncaa-mens-diving-preview-how-zone-scores-project-to-impact-the-team-race/ go iu bb 1 Quote

go iu bb Posted March 27, 2024 Posted March 27, 2024 After an insanely fast day 1 at the NCAA championships, IU men are in 4th place with 52 points after finishing 6th in both the 200 medley and 800 free relays. https://swimswam.com/2024-mens-division-i-ncaa-championships-day-1-finals-live-recap/ IU is +4 points from seed. They were the 8th seed in the 800 free relay and got 6th. go iu bb Posted March 28, 2024 Posted March 28, 2024 Not a lot of swimming points will be scored today for IU. Rafael Miroslaw (500 free, 12th) and Luke Barr (200 IM, 14th) qualified to swim in the evening. The divers could score some points, though. https://swimswam.com/2024-mens-division-i-ncaa-championships-day-2-prelims-live-recap/ go iu bb 1 Quote
go iu bb Posted March 29, 2024 Posted March 29, 2024 Miroslaw added 2 seconds to his prelims time and ended up 14th in the 500 free. Barr finished 10th in the 200 IM. Henninger and Carson really helped the team by finishing 2nd and 3rd, respectively, in 1m diving. That is 33 points right there. 200 free relay finished 11th, up from their 16th seed. IU is in 4th place after day 2. Before diving and the relay, they were in 6th place so those two events really helped, especially the diving. They are 1 point up on Texas. This wasn't expected to be a big one for IU, the next 2 days should see more scoring from the swimmers. https://swimswam.com/2024-mens-division-i-ncaa-championships-day-2-finals-live-recap/ It looks like IU, Texas, and NC State are battling for 4th place. On the day, IU was +17 in points scored compared to seeds entering the meet. https://swimswam.com/2024-ncaa-mens-championships-day-2-scoring-analysis/ go iu bb and Class of '66 Old Fart 1 1 Quote
