It is so shameful that IU fans can just talk about the current basketball season without having to make it a broader argument about the state of the program.  

 

Clearly everyone here is hoping for a one and done exit in the tournament.  That is what we all want

they are ok with it because its all we have right now. Instead of high expectations and being dissapointed in a decent season we start with low expectations and get jacked when we have a shot at doing better than mid pack. Different times.

IU has not been consistently elite for 20 years.  The Crean era is no different than the 13 years before that except we actually did have some success for 2 straight years with a chance to have tournament success this year.  

 

Bottom line, everyone wants the same thing, to win games in the tournament and win titles.  But this is a process.  People should not have outsized expectations for this years team because that would be unfair to them.  Now next year if everyone stays I think the expectations should be higher but what is the point of putting unfair expectations on this group.  

 

Just enjoy the season at hand.  We take care of business over this final stretch and we are definitely in the tournament possibly with a top 6 or 7 seed.  That is PROGRESS towards the goal we all want which is a great thing for the program.

Reading through this thread it is apparent that a lot of posters are way to confident we make the tourney. I like our favorable schedule down the stretch but remember any team can beat us. I think there is a major chance we could lose two home games yet and a road game. If god for bid that happens do we still get in? If it comes down to winning a big ten tournament game I don't love our chances. I am not trying to troll or whatever u guys call it just wonder what you guys think. I know we have some good resume building games but I always felt the top 5 or 6 teams get in from the big may b less this year what happens if we finish below that?

What? We're having a decent season, and I'm not going to be miserable all year because we aren't 24-1. Long term, I want Final Fours, but you have to examine each individual season/situation. But please, keep throwing out buzz words.

That is a minor portion of non conference schedule. My point is Crean is afraid to play road games and that will come back to bite IU when you examine the body of work.

I think we can blame our lack of true road games as a cause of dead puppies and global warming. And if the earth gets hit with an extinction size asteroid between now and the selection show, I'd bet the schedule had something to do with that as well.

I really wonder if some people just sit on their computer and try to think about reasons to be pissed off. We are 18-8, we could have a better record, but we are in good positioning to finish top 4 in the B10 and have played really well the last two games going into the easiest stretch of our schedule. Purdue is next, at home! 

 

Yeah, being a fan I think about the long term state of our program but this season is exciting. We have a fun team to watch get vested in actual basketball, standings, how opponents look at possible seedings and save "state of the program" talk for the offseason. The state of the 2014-2015 Hoosier basketball team is looking pretty good.

I agree Kelley.  As this season goes by I realize how much I will miss Yogi and Troy especially.  Blackmon and Johnson look to be the next answers too.  I like the way Ziesloft plays and competes too. 

 

Fun team and pretty good season so far.  I am excited to see how we do in Feb-March! 

 

Then, land that super recruit/transfer to sure up our front court!!!

 

Edit- Oh and BTW, I am back on that roller coaster that is IU basketball.  Ups and downs from week to week.  If we continue to play like we did AT Maryland and home to Minnesota, I'll be happy.  Win or lose!

It's the same people who look at the Exec handling Domestic Policy and complain he should be handling Foreign Policy and visa-versa. Doing research and coming up with meaningful criticism is hard.
