2014-2015 RPI Rankings

Recommended Posts

Because the RPI is a very simple formula that doesn't examine scoring margins (essentially it's just record and schedule strength), it becomes very dependant on sample size.  It's too early in the season and the sample is too small for the RPI to give an accurate assessment of teams.  Give it at least another month, and then take a look.

So these rankings make it seem like it is way too early to look at RPI. SMU and Pitt aren't world beaters, but that RPI has us below teams like Rutgers who lost by 17 to George Washington and 18 to St.Peters (They're 2-5......) is dumb.

Not to mention that our SOS isn't particularly good.
