Magnanimous Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 It seems like nearly every successful NCAA football and basketball program between 1988 and 2016 was a colossal mess and corrupt pile of **** led by gutless men. Basketball - UNLV, UNC, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan State, Syracuse, UConn, UCLA, Kansas, Michigan, Memphis Football - Ohio State, Michigan State, Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Florida, Penn State, Miami, USC, Baylor This coincides with the (lenghty) period of IU's athletic slump. I realize we have the Sampson blemish on our program's resume, but it was a short incident that was more of a reflection of one coach than the program/athletic department as a whole. We certainly got our comeuppance and then some on that, and we've been clean since. I also realize our irrelevancy in basketball was more a result of how the coaching searches were run, but maybe it also says something about this school's unwillingness to play the game to be successful in today's college sports landscape. Hopefully these recent incidents finally changes things for the better. Iugradman, thebigweave, BGleas and 1 other 4 Quote

mdn82 Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 In this environment, they can’t survive a scandal like this. It already took down the school’s president and AD. Izzo and Dantonio won’t be able to recruit and the negative PR with them staying would be extremely damaging to the school’s reputation.I actually agree with you on this. With the whole #MeToo thing this is bad. These things always get bad when the floodgates open. Izzo pissed off families of the victims in the Nassar case already. I could see this quickly evolve into a Louisville type case when a new President has to come in and clean up this mess. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Iugradman 1 Quote

JSHoosier Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 This on top of what Nassar did and MSU SHOULD be in a world of hurt. Of course, I always try set my expectations low when it comes to people and yet they still manage to disappoint. Iugradman 1 Quote

Stuhoo Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 It could hurt recruiting, and based on what I just read, could mean the end of D'Antonio there. Izzo? Bad news, but no real new revelations. Much more a shinier spotlight on old revelations. He'll muddle through this; maybe with a few bruises. WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote
Bailey7878 Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 Purdue is good but I honestly think a team like Duke or MSU (if they're on) would pummel them.Maybe but they will still probably blow us out Sunday. Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk Quote

His players in the past have been accused and then accusations dismissed quickly. Title IX is coming for MSU. My guess is more things come out. New President and AD will be forced into making moves imo. This won’t be a NCAA thing. It will be an interesting couple of years unless lawsuits start happening against MSU involving the MBB and FB teams which is possible tbh. On top of what most say went down we have what is going on in society. We jumped from Black Lives Matter to MeToo. It is a lynch mob and they had a doctor that will bring many people on campus nobody wants to see. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app cthomas 1 Quote
