The next facilities project for IU will apparently be to enclose the south end zone similar to the north side; making Memorial Stadium a complete bowl. No word as to the scope of the project or the number of seats that would be added in result of the addition.

 

IMO, anything is better than that dumb Knothole park.

I like how the stadium looks now. The south end zone being open with the trees and stuff just looks cool to me for some reason. But I'm sure whatever they do will be pretty nice. My guess is suites in the new endzone.

You need wins to gain attendance, and you need better recruits to gain wins. New, state of the art facilities attract recruits. Look at what they did with the NEZ, and imagine what they're going to add in the SEZ. It's going to be a strong recruiting move.

Agreed. The NEZ project was more about updating the facilities and less about seats. I love the architectural look of the NEZ (from both inside and outside the stadium). Excited to see what is proposed for the SEZ.

Glass already said any seating additions will be negligible. The only mention of seating I've seen is a small rooftop club area on top of the training complex. On a side note, why do IU fans keep saying stuff like this all over the internet? What part of "facilities enhancement" automatically leads to "we're adding 10,000 seats"? Glass isn't stupid.

They painted the old parts to match. The NEZ has a different facade, but it's the same color.

I was hoping they'd change the knot hole into a beer garden where you actually can drink. Similar to what Purdouche and many places have done recently. Maybe they'll put it on top of the new end zone!

I'm assuming it will basically align right under the scoreboard and video screen? I'd pictures are out there I apologize, have t seen them yet.

Put in a pool like the one at Jacksonville Stadium! Just joking; we would have about two nice weekends the entire season. I would love a beer garden that served only local Indiana craft beer and wine. With the number of good craft breweries in the state, I think it would be a big success.

As far as I'm concerned, it is a good thing to see the program continue to put money into upgrading the stadium.  Better facilities is still a selling point even if all those seats might not be filled right away.
