OT-John Calipari Calls a Radio Show To Defend Himself

Francesca is a pretty big jerk. His whole point is that Calipari isn't an X's and O's coach but can make players play really well and win. I'm siding with Cal on this one...Fran is an idiot.

Wow! That's great. I think the radio guy is probably right on. Sadly though, Crean comes off as a tarnished Cal Clone in his "image" in how Crean is viewed nationally.

I personally think Crean develops players better than Cal but Crean is viewed as a Recruiter/motivator more than his X's and O's too.

Yeah, Francesca is way off base here.  I hate to say anything in defense of the squid, but the guy is a pretty good Xs and Os coach as well.  Can he recruit and motivate and get the egos to mesh?  Absolutely, but he can coach some Xs and Os too.

No, not an accident, but more often then not, the TEAM with the best players win. No matter what. Cal has an amazing streak of top recruiting classes. He has NBA teams and he plays against college teams.

Hard to separate X's and O's from the rest BUT he usually has unrivaled talent and that is not debatable.

Does Lebron James win so many games because that little critter coaching Miami is a genius X's and O's coach? No, they win because they out talent nearly everyone.

Sometimes the wrong person gets the credit. San Antonio for example. Popovich is deemed a genius and I think he is great too, but maybe, just maybe, the players on SA are undervalued in their abilities.

I coach hockey at a high level. I've had State champion teams and crummy teams too. You know what changes? My coaching? My X's and O's? No. Neither. The talent on the ice is what changed.

Edit: Mike is buddy-buddy with Parcells and Parcells and Coach Knight are friends from when they coached at Army. I have a feeling Mike is just interjecting Knight's opinion.
