Best Pure Shooters All-Time @ IU

Recommended Posts

Although Alford three point % I'd higher I'm gonna argue that it's Cheaney. I got to looking into it and Cheaney only missed 702 shots his whole career at IU. His three point percentage is not as high as Hulls or Alford but his overall field goal percentage is well over hulls. He shot almost 56% all time at IU with Alford in second at 53%.

I agree Calbert had a sweet shot.  His shot didn't have the range of Alford.  Alford only had one year with the 3 point line.  That 3 point line actually moved him closer to the rim in his senior year.  His range extended far beyond that his first 3 years.  Alford shooting from where he was at 53% would make Jordy Hulls look like Bracey Wright.  When he missed, you were shocked.  His FT were the best FT I have seen.  His stroke was just so consistent.  I would also put Jordy and Brian Evans on that list as well as Calbert.  The whole 76 team should be on that list.  Part of that was the offense put them in a position to succeed, but they could also shoot the ball.  IU has been fortunate to have some shooters throughout the years.

When I think of shooters, I don't think of shooting percentage; incorporates too many inside shot-makers.

I think of "you better not leave him open!"

My list:

1) Steve Alford

2) Matt Roth

3) Brian Evans

4) Randy Wittman

5) Jay Edwards

6) Jordan Hulls

7) Jimmy Rayl

8) Christian Watford

9) Ted Kitchel

10) Kyle Hornsby

11) Pat Graham

12) Todd Leary

Honorable mention: Tijan Jobe

Left off of list because they only played one year, but would've ranked high: Eric Gordon, pre-injury Maurice Creek

Or how about best "pure" shot. March 30, 1987 - Four seconds remain as Smart's shot flies through the air. Every eye in the stadium, all the millions of eyes watching the game on TV, follow the ball as it descends toward the net. The ball swishes through, perfectly and beautifully. Indiana 74, Syracuse 73. KA-CHING!!!!!!!!

And the entire 2002 team lol Coverdale, Hornsby, Fife, Moye best march of my life Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Fife shot pretty well that year but he wasn't much of a shooter for his career.  Decent but not nearly good enough to be on this list.

We have been blessed with great shooters but when it comes to a wide open jumper, I think Pat Graham was as good or better than anyone we ever had. Without his foot problems, he would have been an all-time great.
