Some guy on ESPN was kind of dissing Crean tonight

Anyone watch the badgers dismantle Baylor's zone last night?  They made it look easy.  Baylor was so confused they switched to man to man.

On the Dan Patrick show, Seth Davis said that's the first time they have abandoned the zone all season

These last couple of comments are so spot on. When you catch a pass vs a zone you have three options 1)shoot 2)penetrate 3) pass.

That descision should be made and executed within a second or two of catching the ball. We have so many players who dribble for no other reason than because they can. Drives me crazy.

Indiana fans really get the game on a whole other level IMO. Reading comments on this site and others have validated this. It seems most people who post either study the game or coach youth/high school in some way or another.

Hoosiers are born that way

That is because we dribble before we truly reverse. Drives me nuts when I see it. The ball should very rarely hit the floor against a zone unless you are getting to the middle. You should never dribble up top. Does nothing. IMO

This is true too, we dribble way too much passing moves the ball faster.  Every time we face a zone I find myself thinking we need to be getting rid of the ball faster, sharp quick passes to get the defense shifting and opening gaps that you can penetrate.  Or flash someone to the middle and hit him forcing the defense to match up, they can shoot or pass or hit a guy cutting to the basket from the short corner.  We've missed Will a ton in the middle.

That is the inherent problem with our offense.  It is based on players making plays.  In a zone you have to know where the ball is going if not before then very quickly after you get it.  When you are thinking of 200 things you could do with the ball as soon as you get it, you will struggle against a zone.  Which we have.  I agree we will miss Will a TON against the zone.  Perimeter shooters mask this issue if you find them before the zone finds them, but that is another issue.  Hopefully we go to the offense we ran against UM when we see the zone next.  We will look much improved.

Yeah, I liked how our offense looked against Michigan.  Ball movement and player movement, not 4 people standing around watching the ball handler dribble the air out.  Then when we went back to our standard offense, we turn to statues as usual.  Which to me just confirms that Crean wants the players standing around watching, I mean we switched up the offense and it looked fluid and go back to our base offense and it all stopped.

I meant in the time Will has been here there's been a lot of times he's flashed to the middle of the zone and we wouldn't pass to him.  Most of the time a player would lackadaisically cut through the middle.

Syracuse's length at guard makes their zone very hard to play, and Coach Boehiem is the master of the zone, it's all he has coached for years. Him going man to man would be like RMK playing a zone!...CTC went back and forth and the team couldn't execute either this year, and playing against it, they had no clue! Archie's brother is a fine coach, as is Archie, and his team actually plays like a TEAM! He won't be in Dayton long!
