Posting Etiquette - Please Read

Ok...  So as many of you have either taken issue with or have been a part of this.  Time to lay out what we expect.  We as mods/admin try to let you guys do the talking, because this is a site that is for you guys.  Unfortunately, that has created somewhat of a pissing match.  This is very straight forward and we won't vary from this.  I have explained to some of you in PM, that the next offense is 1 week for the etiquette you bring to this board.  What can cause this? 

 

1. Posting about the player as a person.  Saying a player sucks, or needs to be off of the team.  Would you want that said about your family member or kid?  If you don't like the way a player is playing, then say, "xxxx player is looking terrible, but if he would just give up the ball..."  That is talking about his play vs. him as a person.
2. Going back and forth with a poster that does this.  We want to keep the peace as mods/admin, but this type of back and forth makes it harder.  Obviously we will work with you guys, but you need to send a PM.  Don't bring it to the board.  That just pisses everyone off. 
3. If you have an opinion, then great.  Allow others to have theirs without saying things like they are ignorant or things like that.  You are on a community environment.  Your statement is more ignorant.  I promise you that.  You will be banned for that sort of thing. 
4. Don't make these things personal.  Don't follow a poster around to try and get a reaction.  If you don't like a posters personal style, don't follow them into every thread to respond.  You will get banned for that. 

I honestly don't think that is too much to ask.  I have been on a few boards as a mod, and this is the least we have asked of people.  If you have a question, please let any of us know.  Don't bring it to the board.  That only creates more drama.  If any of the other mods/admin have anything they want to add, please do.  Thanks guys.

Thanks for taking appropriate action. I never get involved, but I definitely get annoyed when it happens. We are headed in the right direction. We're all a team here.

Agreed, and if anybody sees anything that bothers them, hopefully they send us a PM.  We all have families, so it may not be right then, but we will respond.  We will either take an action or explain why it isn't that big of a deal.  Obviously we can't please everyone, but we really are trying to make this a go to place for IU sports.  Environment is a huge part of that.  Hopefully this is the last time we ever have to bring this up.
