Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 30, 2025 Posted December 30, 2025 Wasn't last night enjoyable? NOT! Minny scored 21 pts. on 21 IU TOs. With their 18 offensive rebounds Minny scored 19 second chance points. Even though we shot 43% on 3s, it wasn't nearly enough and I hate to be a Negative Nancy, but I don't think this MSU game will be much different. The Spartans (12-1) average 90 ppg with a +36 margin shooting 51% FG and 39% on 3s. They've held their opponents to 37% and 27% respectively. 4 players average in double figures and their next 2 scorers are 9.8 and 9.6 ppg. They average 38 rpg but roughly 35% are off the offensive glass a major IU deficiency. They commit just 11 TOs/game vs 24/gm for their opponents, another IU deficiency this season. Just can't see how our women's team can stop MSU's fire power. I've seen it reported that Z is no longer wearing a boot but probably another 7-10 days away at a minimum from getting back on to the court. Maybe with luck, the Spartan team will party too hard New Year's Eve. Radio Live Stats mamasa 1 Quote

They have some top wins, but losses at Wisconsin and were taken to the wire at home by Rutgers and both are arguably worse than IU. This will likely be the last close game for a while simply because MSU plays to their opposition regardless of if they are struggling or elite. While this is the game that should be written off in theory based on talent and performance, MSU's mercurial nature could well give IU a better chance in this one until any opposition before Purdue. If we get top-level Sparty this one will be really ugly against the Hoosiers. However, based on recent results, this is far from a guarantee Class of '66 Old Fart and HoosierHoopster 2 Quote
TTT Posted December 30, 2025 Posted December 30, 2025 Under 20 Over 20…is that what we call close now? Quote

LamarCheeks Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Let's win two today. First, a women's clash with Sparty at SSAH, then a little contest out west people have been talking about. Class of '66 Old Fart and mamasa 2 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 1 Author Posted January 1 Austin Render said Wiseman is available today but Z still out. Z went through shootaround and Render hinted that she could see action on Sunday at Maryland. mamasa 1 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 1 Author Posted January 1 Shay with her 2nd foul just 3 min. into the game. 9-6 MSU Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 1 Author Posted January 1 With 3 min. left in the Q, finally there's a media timeout. 17-15 MSU. Despite 2 fouls, Shay has remained on the court as has all of our other starters. Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 1 Author Posted January 1 After 1, MSU 19 - IU 18. Shay 10p. Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 1 Author Posted January 1 (edited) Ondineme comes off the bench plays 2 min. and picks up 2 fouls. Ugh! And now Lenee picks up her 2nd foul. MSU opens up a 26-21 win. And Noyan becomes our 4th player with 2 fouls. Edited January 1 by Class of '66 Old Fart Added Noyan fouls Quote
LamarCheeks Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Ciezki really short on a couple wide-open 10-15 foot jumpers. Maybe a little fatigue? mamasa 1 Quote
LamarCheeks Posted January 1 Posted January 1 When facing a pressing, trapping team, can't hold the ball for even a second in the backcourt -- gotta move it. Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 1 Author Posted January 1 We just don't have a lot of quickness IMO which accounts for a lot of our continued problems in fouling and getting trapped as Lamar noted. mamasa 1 Quote
LamarCheeks Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Sweet drive by Caffey -- gotta finish that, though. Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 1 Author Posted January 1 Hangin' in there. Holding our own on the boards today and 6 ORs have led to 12 2nd chance points. Quote
