Hey all.

I have a parking pass in the Indiana Ave lot (in the attached picture) for the game Saturday against Illinois.

I know exactly where it is, but can’t picture the lot. Is it very big? Is there much of a tailgating scene? Do we need to get there early?

Just curious if I should plan on more of a tailgate or just use it to park there and head to bars. Thanks!

I didn’t know there was a lot there.  Looks like the parking lot for the old Folklore and Ethnomusicology Building (lol — classic IU).  Good parking location, but not sure that’s a tailgate hotspot though…

Shhh…that’s a secrete staff parking lot. But in all honesty, it’s a great place for free parking on game day. Not a tailgate hotspot though. There’s another lot a block away too on cottage grove.

Interesting…. Since I have a pass I’ll be guaranteed a spot, right?

Well, yeah, I guess. I didn’t realize that they used that lot for football game parking now! I’d call the ticket office just to make sure. They are incredibly helpful whenever I have questions.

I'd be interested in how the ticket office answers your guaranteed spot question.  I have a reserved grass lot pass and when I asked a VC rep about the "reserved" label he indicated that means that I am guaranteed a spot in Lot A or B.  I didn't question any further but it seemed to imply to me that other grass lots might be oversold like airlines do.  Hard to believe IU would accept money for season passes though without having enough spaces to accommodate all buyers.

Can you please share what you learn? Thanks and Go Hoosiers!!!!!

Just called - super helpful. He ensured we'd have a spot in that little lot regardless of arrival time. Figured this was the case, but nice to know we won't be sent in another direction.

That's good to hear. Thanks for circling back to share that info.

Update here: the Indiana Ave parking lot was more than fine. Nice and shaded, easy in and out, plenty room to tailgate. Decent little crowd and fun with folks walking to/from bars on Indiana Ave. Doesn't compare to the grass lots or lots closer to the stadium, but I would totally purchase a pass in that lot again! cc: @eddy4iu
