Retro Video Games

Recommended Posts

My childhood…

PS1: Syphon Filter 1&2, Crash Bandicoot 3, Final Fantasy 9, Twisted Metal 2, Tony Hawk 2, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 1

PS2/Xbox: Devil May Cry, NCAA Football 2003-2006, Medal of Honor: Frontline, Timesplitters 2, Splinter Cell 3 - Chaos Theory, GTA - Vice City

Dreamcast: NBA 2k, Shenmue, Silver (very underrated PC port)

I dabbled in Xbox 360 but by that point I moved past gaming. Missed out on the Red Dead Redemption franchise though. That looked awesome.

Right now I have my Super Nintendo still hooked up, but need to get new controllers. Since childhood, I’ve had Nintendo, Super Nintendo, PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, and WII. My dad was a PC gamer and I got into that as a kid. Favorite games were Doom, Quake, Oregon Trail, and I believe it was called Mad Dog (old western shootout type game).

Working up to purchase a PS5. Miss having a gaming system. Sold my PS4 some years ago because I wasn’t playing it, but regret it.

Plenty of places sell the old systems so you could always buy the PS4 back at some point.   Not sure where you are located but Disc Replay, Gameworld sell retro gaming stuff.   There is also a place called Anything Gaming that is located in the South Side Flea Market off of 465 that has a ton.    Old Atari systems and games as well

I live just SW of St. Louis, MO. I need to replace my controllers for the Super Nintendo, but am always cautious doing it online. Need to find myself a good brick and mortar store like you mentioned. My oldest who is almost 8 really liked playing it with me.

Really was fun...way back.  Teaching Dos Prompt loading to my youngins.

I enjoyed old Flash programs. And downloading on dialup.

Top down turn play Panzer General was my favorite.

Played some Monkey Island with the girls.  Oregon Trail...1991 After Dark games...Lemming...

I actually remember playing Pong and other simple games from back then like Pac Man and a Tanks game.

Taught the girls on Mavis Bacon typing.

They both are now really using computers and online apps.  Pretty special.

I can't handle moving walls and disorientation...sea sickness symptoms.  And I was in the Navy.  Go figure.

Swim and snorkel too.

Ended up in Engineering using Geographic Information Systems and Planning.

Wear a tinfoil hat and believe in aliens and all sorts of conspiracy theories now.  And I always tell the truth...

Go IU.

You really said Oregon Trail. I'll be 50 in July. I remember my mother, a 2nd grade school teacher in Mooresville, Indiana, got to bring home an Apple IIGS one summer for "training......." I died so much that summer it wasn't even funny!
