Yeah I doubt anyone disagrees with that. The rule sucks as it’s currently constituted.

I kinda hope they revisit this targeting rule at some point. 

Because if the official is wrong -- and even with review, they are -- that's a double whammy. You lose 15 yards and a player. 

I'd guess 85% of these calls are just the case of a player being in the wrong place at the wrong time -- so to speak. They're not intentionally going helmet-to-helmet or blatantly trying to injure someone.

I think something like the basketball flagrant system could work. There are some REALLY obvious targeting penalties that have intent behind them. Do that? See ya. But CJ West going after a ball and Garber’s head gets in the way? No CHANCE he should miss a snap of this game let alone the next one.
