I left you unsupervised this afternoon so I could play Grandpa and this is how you pay me back! Read the thread and the box score and not much more to be said. Simply have to have our shite together Thursday night. Syd played but only 6 minutes. Was that the plan? Did she re-injure her foot? Was she physically not ready? Anybody have any answers or thoughts? Syd didn't look like she was suffering from any lingering affects of her injury. She had no impact on the game whatsoever, though. Had a turnover, a rebound and a foul. Probably nowhere near game shape. My hope was that she would play 10-15 minutes to get her feet wet, then could start Thursday. But clearly I was expecting too much -- as I don't think there's anyway we can start her against Iowa. Had a nice run early. Offense was really clicking. Then Mack got a rest and everything went south. We were never the same after. Defense was atrocious -- Illinois basically had a layup-fest for most of the first half -- and offense never found its rhythm again. Sorta like at Stanford and at Iowa, once we got down by double digits, we folded. I think we got the lead down to 8 once, but Illinois pushed it right back up. What was even more aggravating was that with the game out of reach late, the announcers shifted gears and spent the last few minutes talking about C****** C****. Ugh! Very frustrating game to watch. Seemed like we just forgot how to do all the things that got us that 21-3 record coming in. All those who had been doing so well in Syd's absence -- Lex, Lilly, LaMendola, Beaumont -- contributed next to nothing this afternoon. I know you can't go higher than 100%, but we're gonna have to play 150% better to have a chance against Iowa. LockdownD, Class of '66 Old Fart, Todd41 and 1 other 2 2 Quote
