Class of '66 Old Fart Posted June 17, 2024 Author Posted June 17, 2024 Kinney was invited to the USA U17 training camp. This from Adam Finkelstein. Taylen Kinney been the most pleasant surprise for me. After watching mostly u17 teams this spring, I was aware of Kinney but I hadn't thoroughly evaluated him. This setting has given me the opportunity to do that and he's made a definite impression. Although he may still have some work to do to make the final roster, but, regardless of the outcome, Kinney's made it clear that he belongs in this setting. Kinney's just been one of those guys that has consistently done positive things on both ends of the floor. He's had some takes to the rim and tough finishes that were undoubtedly impressive, but he's also done some subtle things that show his depth as a young player. He's fed the post well offensively, blown up screens off the ball defensively and has shown a willingness to get his nose dirty on the glass by rising up for tough boards. As for his recruitment, Indiana, Louisville, Michigan State, Penn State, Purdue and Xavier were reportedly some of the schools that contacted him on Saturday — the first day NCAA coaches were allowed to contact players. Would bet a fair amount that Kinney eventually ends up at some Prep somewhere. Hopefully it’s 1 of the ones we like. Quote

Watched a couple of his HS games after he was offered and figured he was 5’11”ish and probably 150-155 and then at the Adidas Eurocamp he measured 6’1” and 175 and he looks like a different kid and he lit it up pretty good. Top 30 may not be his ceiling at this point. Hopefully getting in early is meaningful here. Quote
BA47591 Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 We appear to be priorizing the young man. I love a pass first pg that can defend his position. This guy is that. Quote
