Class of '66 Old Fart

(2025) PG Chance Mallory to Virginia - Maybe Not?

Recommended Posts

STAB beaten 69-62 by Bullis School in the championship game of the Bullis Holiday Classic.  36p;  8r;  2a;  2s

Bullis School has Eric Reibe who holds an IU offer but I've been unable to find any sources to track how his season is going but the fact that we're not hearing anything about him and his thread is less than 1 page in length pretty much indicates that offer is DOA.

STAB beaten 80-61 by John Marshall.  STAB couldn't match the size, quickness and physical play of JM but Mallory still finished with 32p;  10r;  2a;  3s;  1b;  4t     10-19 FG;  2-6 on 3s;  10-10 FT.  After JM blocked STAB's first several drives to the bucket, everyone stopped except Mallory as evidenced by his 10 FTs.

I have no illusions Mallory will ever suit up for our Hoosiers but there are some kids that are just so much fun to watch because they just don't stop competing.  In a match-up of 8-3 teams, STAB defeated Blue Ridge 82-72.  Mallory 31p;  15r;  7a;  4s;  0b;  0t.   I scored him 9-22 FG;  2-10 on 3s; 11-14 FT.  Couple of his 3s were in the cylinder and spun back out.  Couple were ill-advised but the game was played with a 30 sec. shot clock and impossible to know if they were just bad attempts or attempts to beat the clock because of the camera angle.  Fearless at going to the rim if he sees an opening as evidenced by 14 FTA.  And he takes excellent care of the ball averaging just a single TO/game.

Brandon Jenkins posted a story on Mallory behind the 247 paywall but here's Mallory on IU.

Indiana: "I talk to Kenya Hunter. Ever since they have offered me, they have been in touch a lot. It has been cool to have options outside of the ACC so we get to talk about different things."

IMO, our guard play wouldn't be any worse with a 5'9" Mallory on our roster than what we currently have.

If wishes were horses.....   If our team had his fire and effort on the court.............   Game with Collegiate School finished under a running clock as STAB scored 90 pts.  Mallory played just 7.5 min. in the second half.  28p;  8r;  3a;  0s;  1b;  0t    8-14 FG;      6-8 on 3s;  6-7 FT.  Prior to tonight's game he was shooting 39% on 3s.

I hope you all ignored my suggestion to watch Mallory play.  Not the best night he's had.   STAB (13-3) defeated St. Christopher (13-4) 70-62.    I scored him with 24p; 6r; 4a;  2s;  0b;  1t.    7-21 FG;  2-10 on 3s;  8-9 FG.

He scored 9 of his points in the 4th Q including going 5-6 from the line in the last minute or so to maintain STAB's lead.  I made a point to keep track of fouls he drew.  Tonight he drew 11 opponent fouls.

Mallory a game winning 3 for a 59-56 win over Shabach National.  He led all scorers with 20p and added 7r;  4a.

I’m not a fan of small guards, but I could be persuaded on Mallory. Kid’s dynamic.
