Jamie Shaw-

Darius Acuff is talented, there is no denying his ability to quickly and decisively get to dangerous spots on the floor and make plays. He is at his best when the floor opens up and the pace gets quicker. Acuff plays off the bounce with good balance, enabling him to rise up for his shot whenever he feels that he has his man off-balance. He struggled at times when he looked to create for others on the move, but the ball stuck in his hands far less today than it usually does. Most of Acuff’s shots came from 13 feet and out, he scored it well, and with his ball movement, he picked up a number of assists, keeping the ball hot. It was a dominating performance for Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy, and a large part of that was the start that Acuff got out to. He finished with 28 points and nine assists while going 12-20 from the field.

The previous post from Jamie Shaw was after Day 4 of the Hoop Hall of Fame Classic.  The following is after today's game.

Darius Acuff continues to put up stats. The volume lead guard is a shot-maker who is capable of getting to dangerous areas of the floor, off the bounce. At 6-foot-1, Acuff liked getting out on the break and putting pressure on the defense. While he can struggle at times with the second level of the defense, he has a crafty handle that gets him past the initial defense. Acuff also has range on his jump shot with a quick release and he plays with the utmost confidence. Despite a 65-49 loss, Acuff finished with 25 points and five rebounds.

IMG has played 17 games.  Here's Acuff's stats for 13 games:

22.9p;  4.2r;  5.3a;  1.3s;  .3b;  2.4t                45% FG;  35% on 3s;  78% FT.

1 of the funniest things in high school basketball right now is watching Khani Rooths trying to figure out how to play with Acuff. In both IMG games I’ve seen there has been a play where Acuff has taken a shot and Rooths has literally stopped playing and just stared at him. They weren’t bad looks, I assume he just broke the play and hunted his own, but the kid was not loving it.
