I think it depends on the sport. We’re definitely not toward the top for football, but I think we’re probably #2 or 3 for basketball. Trailing Kansas for sure and maybe Louisville, but I think we may be above UL with their issues.

It’s no major surprise we are fighting Kansas for so many recruits. Adidas is a gigantic part of that equation.

2 things: 1) Given his circumstances there's no reason to think he will, but Moreno strikes me as a kid who should consider the Prep route. He's such a good player and he just doesn't play against enough kids who can stress him at all. He needs better competition. 2) Looking at that box score, it looks like Hoosier Hysteria visitor Taylen Kinney might want to consider that as well. Kid scores 29 and shoots 10-18 while the rest of his team scores 17 and shoots 8-27. Not sure he's getting much benefit here.

Jamie Shaw on Moreno at the Beach Ball Classic -

Malachi Moreno is tall, and that goes without saying. But he also knows how to use his height to his advantage. Moreno is listed at 7-foot-1; he has excellent hands and is mobile with a loose frame. He tracks the ball well on the boards, high-pointing the ball in traffic. Moreno will need to continue adding strength, which will help him establish and hold his position on the block.  Moreno plays with control and balance. He stretched the floor with a pick-and-pop three and finished with both hands around the basket. His championship performance was a very well-run clinic that he put on around the basket. He finished with 24 points, 25 rebounds, and two blocks in the championship game. The event’s Most Outstanding Player’s three-game rebound total of 54 put him at No. 3 in the event’s 43-year history.

Joe Tipton - Malachi Moreno, On3's No. 21 overall recruit in 2025, tells me he hears from these six schools the most frequently. The 7-0 center says UNC and Kansas both contacted him this week. He's taken an official visit to Iowa and made unofficial visits to IU, UK, Notre Dame, and Arkansas, among others.
