(2025) - (C) Malachi Moreno to Kentucky

Recommended Posts

Watching my 1st Malachi Moreno game.  In the 1st 4 minutes he has 3 blocks, got switched on to a pretty quick guard and stayed frontal no problem, and closed out so quick and hard on an open corner 3 that he either got a finger on it or forced an airball.

Quite the introduction.

Moreno 13p and 6r in a 61-29 win over Franklin Co.     5-6 FG and 3-4 FT.

More on his 29p game against Ashland Blazer last Saturday  --  Malachi Moreno scored the first eight points for Great Crossing (2-1) and notched nine more during a third-quarter flurry that put the Warhawks in front by 15 prior to a tenacious rally from the Tomcats. The 6-foot-11 sophomore center picked up player of the game honors with 29 points and 15 rebounds.

52-51 loss to George Rogers Clark.  5p; 15r; 5b.  Only a sophomore but he definitely needs to add some weight and muscle.  Got double teamed every time he got the ball down low and had difficulty dealing with it as he only took 6 shots and only 4 FT attempts.  Also needs to develop an outside shot of some degree.  They position him at the top of the arc a lot and the opponent completely sagged off him and I don't recall that he took a single jump shot nor did he ever attempt to drive the lane even though he had the opportunity.

Great Crossing (14-3) pounded an undermanned Scott County (3-8) 63-34.  Moreno with a unique double double at least on my scorecard.  22p and 10b along with 8r; 1a; 2s; 2t.

Another scorecard credits him with a triple double.  22 pts 12 reb 10 blk,
