 3-seed Indiana will open NCAA Tournament action on Saturday afternoon when it faces 14-seed Charlotte inside Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.

Charlotte arrives as the 2022 C-USA regular season and tournament champions with a 22-9 overall record and 15-3 mark in conference play. Fifth year guard Octavia Jett-Wilson leads the way for the 49ers with 19.1 points per game. Fifth year forward Keke McKinney leads on the glass with 8.1 boards per game while redshirt senior guard Mikayla Boykin also averages double figures with 13.3 points per game. They are No. 90 in the NET rankings and went 9-4 away from home.

NOTES

  • The Hoosiers are making their eighth NCAA Tournament and third-consecutive appearance. IU holds a 6-7 record all-time and are most recently coming off an Elite Eight appearance in the 2021 NCAA Tournament.
  • This will be the first time the women's tournament will hold first and second round games inside Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. The winner of Indiana vs. Charlotte will face off against the winner of 6-seed Kentucky and 11-seed Princeton.
  • Indiana advanced to the Big Ten Tournament championship game for the first time in 20 years last week as the No. 5 seed. Along the way, it defeated Rutgers, Maryland and top-seed Ohio State. Graduate student guard Nicole Cardaño-Hillary and senior guard Grace Berger each earned a spot on the all-tournament team.
  • Berger earned a pair of All-American honors this week from the Associated Press and USBWA. She earned spots on the honorable mention teams and has now earned four All-American honors in her IU career.
  • The two programs have met just once in the all-time series. Indiana won the lone meeting at the Junkaroo Jam in Bimini, Bahamas on Nov. 27, 2009, 72-61.

Yeah it feels like the 1st couple years after the hard camera was taken off the floor. Probably to give a few extra rows for media.
