Class of '66 Old Fart Posted October 13, 2021 Posted October 13, 2021 Jamie Shaw of Rivals reporting an IU offer to Bryson Tucker a 6'6" SF who attends Mount Saint Joseph HS in Baltimore, MD. The '24 class isn't ranked by either 247 or Rivals and there's just not much out there on him. No stats on MaxPreps and and an inactive Hudl account. He was selected for the USA U16 National Team that recently competed in the FIBA 2021 Americas Championship and averaged 9.5 ppg. and 4.3 rpg. @BrysonTucker3_ HoosierAloha and cybergates 2 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted October 13, 2021 Author Posted October 13, 2021 Quick background from Mike Schumann and TheDailyHoosier on Tucker. https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/iu-basketball-recruiting-hoosiers-offer-2024-wing-bryson-tucker/ From Travis Branham back in June following a DMV Live II event. Also references Khani Rooths who we may hear more of in the future. Khani Rooths and Bryson Tucker showdown in a high major 2024 matchup Beginning the day was a high level 2024 matchup between Khani Rooths and Bryson Tucker in front of over a dozen coaches in the back gym of DeMatha - both prospects to begin familiarizing yourself with as they will be high major targets. Starting with Rooths, he stands 6-foot-7 with wide shoulders, long arms and a lean frame. Like most prospects his age, his frame has yet to fill out but that didn't stop him from showcasing his defensive ability against a skilled scorer in Bryson Tucker. The two took on the challenge and Rooths not only showed his ability to defend at a high level but he also rebounded and displayed upside as a scorer on the offensive end. He scored in the post, mid-range and connected on a three off the catch. He has a high floor as a versatile defender, positional rebounder and has upside as a versatile tool on the offensive end. On Tucker, he is a sizey and long wing at this stage who can really score the basketball. Tucker has an advanced scoring package for a prospect his age, especially from the mid-range. He has an array of one- and two- dribble pull-ups, step-backs and even turnaround fade-aways out of the mid-post. Tucker is a skilled scorer who can make tough shots and comes with pedigree as his father played at NC State and overseas. cybergates, ray and HoosierAloha 3 Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted November 30, 2021 Author Posted November 30, 2021 Tucker with 26 pts. in a Mount St. Joseph win over Archbishop Curley last Wednesday. Tonight Mount St. Joseph overwhelmed St. Mary's from the opening tipoff and won 80 - 50. Tucker played just 22 min. sitting out the entire 4th Q. He finished with 18 pts. on 7-15 FG; 1-6 on 3s; 3-3 FT; 7 reb; 4 asst; 1 stl; 1 TO; 1 blk. The following is a statemen Travis Branham made on Tucker following a DMV Live Event held last June: "He has an array of one- and two- dribble pull-ups, step-backs and even turnaround fade-aways out of the mid-post." He exhibited every one of those in tonight's game. jepwatso and HoosierAloha 2 Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 4, 2021 Author Posted December 4, 2021 Mount St. Joseph defeated Loyola Blakefield 77 - 42. Tucker 19 pts. on 8-16 FG; 3-9 on 3s; 0 FT; 7 reb; 2 asst; 1 stl; 2 blk. Game was played with a 30 sec. shot clock. HoosierAloha 1 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 7, 2021 Author Posted December 7, 2021 Mount St. Joseph cruised to a 64 - 30 win over St. Paul's. Tucker with 16 pts. on 7-14 FG; 2-5 on 3s; 0 FT; 8 reb; 0 asst; 0 stl; 6 TO. Several of his TOs were just careless on his part and indicated a lack of focus on the game. He runs the court well on the fast break and he's got a quick first step when he makes a drive to the basket. There were a couple of instances where his body language indicated he was not pleased with teammates. ALASKA HOOSIER and HoosierAloha 2 Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 24, 2021 Author Posted December 24, 2021 Mt. St. Joseph lost to St. Frances Academy 72-67. Tucker finished with 22 pts. on 9-13 FG; 3-4 on 3s; 1-2 FT; 7 reb; 2 asst; 1 stle; 0 blk; 3 TO. Although he had 7 reb, I would not characterize him as an aggressive rebounder. Unless the ball is in his hands, he's a fairly passive player and almost seems like he just wants to patrol the 3-point line for his shots. He's considered a SF but oftentimes is the one who brings the ball up the court for MSJ. He has a habit of just stopping and showing off some dribbling moves before passing the ball off to someone else. He rarely is the actual igniter of the offense and these games are played with a 30-second shot clock. He does have a nice turnaround jump shot and in this game had the ball on a fast break, pulled up at the foul line for his shot and was able to go straight up and not have his momentum carry him forward into a defender. And he made the bucket. HoosierAloha 1 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 29, 2021 Author Posted December 29, 2021 Mount St. Joseph participating in the Benedictine College Prep Classic. Haven't seen any reports for last night's game against Meadowbrook. Today MSJ pulled out a 62-60 win over Archbishop Ryan with Tucker providing the assist on the 3-pointer that won the game for MSJ. Tucker finished with 20 pts; 6 reb; 5 asst. At the half he had 12 pts on 6-10 FG. HoosierAloha 1 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 30, 2021 Author Posted December 30, 2021 Mount St. Joseph 76-54 win over St. Anne's-Belfield in the Benedictine College Prep Classic. From Point Guard Eyes - 25p (11-21 FG, 2-7 3P, 1-3 FT), 3r, & 2a for. The 6'6" W made it look easy w/ a pair of 3s, operating out of the post w/ fadeaways to the L & R, midrange Js off the bounce, dribble drives, off ball movement... A polished & natural scorer. Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 15, 2022 Author Posted January 15, 2022 In a Baltimore Catholic League matchup Mount St. Joseph (12-3) (4-2) got by John Carroll (7-7) (2-3) 57-53. It was a rough shooting night for Tucker. I had him with 14 pts. on 6-20 FG; 1-6 on 3s; 1-2 FT; 8 reb; 1 asst; 1 stl; 1 blk; 3 TO. With under a minute left to play, he made a really bad pass that led to John Carroll tying it up at 53-53 but MSJ pulled it out. He runs the floor well and has decent handles. When teams press, he's the one that brings the ball up the court against the press. Quote
