Class of '66 Old Fart Posted February 23, 2021 Posted February 23, 2021 Could this be a classic definition of a trap game? Coming off a huge win against a ranked Michigan team and facing the #15 ranked Buckeyes on Saturday in Columbus. In theory, this is a blowout. Let's hope it really is. #11/12 INDIANA (14-4, 12-2 B1G) AT WISCONSIN (5-15, 2-15 B1G) Radio No indication there will be any live stats site available. Wisconsin has been playing better lately and upset Ohio St. For reference one of the Wisconsin wins is against Illinois who we struggled with last week. Badgers are def better than Ilini but worse than everyone else. If Holmes can start making her layups we should win easily. Otherwise will be another dog fight. Class of '66 Old Fart 1 Quote
OldBuddy67 Posted February 24, 2021 Posted February 24, 2021 Why do the IU women have 4 games to play and Maryland only has 2? I'm sure it's COVID related but shouldn't Maryland have to make up a game or two? Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted February 25, 2021 Author Posted February 25, 2021 End of 1 and we've got a 17-11 lead. Patberg 5 pts; Holmes 4. Patberg picked up 2 fouls. C-H already has 5 rebounds. mamasa 1 Quote
Aaron Posted February 25, 2021 Posted February 25, 2021 Fine but not great first quarter. IU up 17-11. Also refs are inserting themselves into game way to much (big surprise) with to many foul calls and two reviews at the monitor for reasons beyond my understanding. Quote

Greg Murray speculated the second review may have been a question about Paige Price and the roster submitted for the game since she joined the team after the season started. And there was no explanation given for Kiandra Browne being unavailable tonight. Quote
Aaron Posted February 25, 2021 Posted February 25, 2021 Good start to second quarter and IU expands lead to 11 forcing timeout. Cardano-Hillary hit a 3 out of the near corner off a nice pass, Holmes hit a layup on an offensive rebound with a nice spin and Berger hit a contested bank shot in the lane straight on. Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted February 25, 2021 Author Posted February 25, 2021 We lead 37-23 at halftime. Our M.O. has been really strong 3rd Q play and hopefully that will be the case tonight. Pts: Holmes 13; Patberg 9; C-H 7 Reb: C-H 7; Holmes 6; Berger 4 Holmes has 4 blocks. Gulbe 3 fouls; Patberg 2 Shooting: IU 44% FG; 38% on 3s; 86% FT Wisc 29% FG; 17% on 3s; 100% FT mamasa 1 Quote
Aaron Posted February 25, 2021 Posted February 25, 2021 Holmes is back! She has still missed a layup or two, but more often than not is back to her old self and destroying everyone in the post that tries to stop her. This is an important get right game for her as we need her at her best against a really good OSU team and a decent Iowa team after tonight. Not the best first half for the team, but not a bad one either and a 14 point lead is adequate. Key is knocking the Badgers out in the third quarter instead of letting them back in as happened against Illinois. Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted February 25, 2021 Author Posted February 25, 2021 Greg Murray commented that no official explanation was given on Browne being out but said she's been dealing with a hip injury that has caused her to miss some previous games. Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted February 25, 2021 Author Posted February 25, 2021 We followed our M.O. and extended our lead to 59-37 with a strong 3rd quarter. Pts: Holmes 17; C-H 14; Patberg 14; Gulbe 7 Reb: Holmes 7; C-H 7; Gulbe 6; Berger 4. We're holding Wisky to 33% FG shooting and just 14% on 3s. We're dominating the boards with a 34-19 margin.
