#IUBASE - 3 Game Series Vs. Northwestern 4/13-14

Recommended Posts

IU wins 22-1! Will attend Tuesday for first time this year as I work next to Victory Field basically and can leave my car at work and walk to stadium. Pretty good sales so far. IU has third base dugout and has sold almost all the seats behind it on lower level and Notre Dame about 70% on their side although many could be IU fans as well. Upper level basically nothing sold but sales look like they are going nicely so far. Decent forecast also at 50 and dry around first pitch.

I'll be there. Have you gone to this game before? There was a Twitter talk of maybe we go with our Sunday Reds and ND wear their all green.

I have been all 3 years in Indy. 2 thrilling walk off wins in 15 and 17 vs. ND and Ball State and a forgot to show up 5-0 loss in 16 to ND. In 15 ND flat out handed us the game down 5-3 in the bottom of the 9th with multiple errors on what should of been a game ending double play but threw the ball in the dugout instead. In 16 we lost 5-0 in a game we really didn't compete. Last year against Ball State we took a 3-2 lead in 7th, Lloyd surrendered it in 9th to tie than we walked off in 10th on a Gorski RBI single to right where Ball State had a play at the plate but fielder misplayed it for easy score.

In 15 win was huge for resume against a good ND team. This year ND has struggled so a win does not help but we need it because a loss would hurt. ND is talented so need to play hard and ready to compete.

Outscored them 38-4 if I am not mistaken. Very good job. Sadly looks like will win 1 with other cancelled.

Ball State is very much up in air but considering it being a non conf game and they are awful it really doesn't hurt us if we lose it from a resume standpoint as a loss only hurts and a win doesn't help. Don't want to lose anymore Big Ten games or UK or UL which are huge resume builders but losing the game at PU (which doesn't count towards Big Ten Standings) or home to Ball State really would not be the end of the world as much as you would like to play them.

As much as I'd like to play them?

I realize I left a word out of my earlier post but frankly if you could stop making stuff up and saying it's my opinion it would be utterly spectacular.

Are you confusing Brass Cannon's post with one of mine? I said awhile back that I thought it was stupid we couldn't make up the Ball State game and play two games at our place with them getting the last at-bat in one of them. At the time I forgot we were playing Notre Dame in Indy the day before, so now it makes sense to me why the makeup isn't happening.

I think so. I was stating that Michigan won one of their games today and the other was cancelled. Since they are perfect in the big ten a cancelled game doesn't hurt them. Now later on they may wish they had a chance to get that win but right now it's a good thing.

For us to win the Big Ten Michigan needs to lose 3 and we win 15 straight. Not good odds

We're two games back... they have 15 more games and we have 15 more. Plenty of time. I'd rather win the tourney regardless.

Got you I apologize I misread your post completely. We need a lot of luck though to win Big ten 2 games back. More bad news is our RPI has fallen to 26 but good news is after tonight everyone besides Ball State has a pretty high RPI so if we can beat some of the higher teams and win the rest of our series and sweep 1 or 2 others at 18-5 we may have a chance for both conference and high RPI. Other than BSU any win other moving forward should improve our RPI instead of hurt it. The Michigan cancellation though puts them on level at 23 games with us so that could be bad or good later as you said.

Minnesota had their game with Purdue cancelled today as well. As of right now, Minnesota and Michigan will play the same number of games as us. Ohio State and Illinois are lurking in the shadows and have played more.

Beating  Kentucky and Louisville will help.

Unfortunately we have to play Minny and Michigan doesnt. Michigan got a cakewalk schedule.

Hopefully Illinois and Iowa can do some damage to them. If one could steal a game and the other win the series that would be great.

Most importantly we can not afford another bad loss.

Right now we should be tied with Michigan and annoyed by their schedule.

Yeah the 82nd RBI boilermakers at home was a totally legit loss

It's a game we probably shouldn't have lost (with how the game played out, we just weren't good enough), as far as it being a "bad loss".. no not at all. One of the NW games would have been a bad loss. Cinci and Pacific were bad losses, Purdue was not.
