In a single Tuesday night game, pUKe kicked our butts 12-2 as we could only manage 4 hits.  Jessee managed to keep his streak alive with a FC that scored 1 of our 2 runs.  Levy started but only lasted into the 2nd inning facing 8 batters and taking the loss.  All told, we went through 7 pitchers who collectively gave up 9 hits, 6 BB, 6 HP.

2-1 IU lead after 5 and we tacked on 2 more in the 6th to make it 4-1.  ISU scored 3 in the top of the 7th to tie it up then we exploded for 11 runs in the bottom of the 7th.  ISU with a run in the 9th but Hoosiers get the W 15-5.  We had 13 hits; 6 of which were for extra bases.  Tibbits went 3-4 and Mathison 3-5.  Taylor, Whalen and Mathison each with 3 RBI.  Our scoring was aided by ISU pitchers issuing 7 BB; 4 WP and 3 HBP.  We used a total of 11 different pitchers with none facing more than 6 ISU batters.  Collectively they gave up 7 hits; 8 BB; 1 WP and 2 HBP.

B1G season opens this weekend in Bloomington hosting O$U for a 3-game series.

Ethan Phillips starts on the mound for IU.  Behind the plate for Kent State is Sears and on the mound is Roebuck.  I kid, I kid, but Roebuck really is the KSU pitcher.

We draw first blood with a Tibbitts SF in the 1st inning and the bases loaded to lead 1-0.

Our winning streak is at 8 games with a 4-3 win over Kent State.  Season record now 18-7.

We picked up a run in the 7th to make it 4-1.  KSU scored 2 in the 8th on a bases loaded single after we'd loaded the bases via walks.  Risedorph took the mound in the 9th and set KSU down in order for the save.

Hoosiers with 10 hits.  Glasser 3-5 and Tibbitts 2-3 on the day.  We left 10 on base.

This weekend we'll be at Penn State for a weekend series.

After 5 complete Hoosiers trail 1-0.  Bothwell started but was pulled for Katskee after 1.2 innings.  Bothwell faced 11 batters -- walked 4; hit 2 and threw a WP.  Katskee gave up a solo HR in the 3rd and was replaced to start the 4th by Brooks Ey.  He's given up a hit and struck out 4 in his 2 innings.

Foley took the mound in the 6th.  Walked 2 and balked them to 2nd and 3rd.  Infield single made it 2-0.  Whiteaker started the 7th and gave up a solo HR to make it a 3-0 ISU lead.  After a walk and a single with 1 out, Whiteaker was replaced by Seiler.  He gives up a single to the first batter he faced and it's 4-0 at the end of 7 innings.  We've managed just 5 hits off 3 Sycamore pitchers.

That Hollycross guy IU saw for five innings is probably the best arm they have seen this season and his numbers back that up (0.47 ERA). He went multiple shutout innings against very highly ranked Kentucky and Miami also so the Hoosiers are far from the first high powered offense he has completely befuddled .

Just one of those days. Focus on winning the Iowa series which is most important. RPI will stay between 25-30 and keep team in position for an at-large bid should they win the games they are supposed to down the stretch.
