Per release, Indiana freshman right-hander Seth Benes will be on the mound. Mother Nature may be a factor. Currently, there's a dry window from 4:00 to 7:00 but scattered thunderstorms for several hours on both sides of that window. With luck, they'll get the game completed just in time to catch the IUWBB game at 7:00. Radio Live Stats Just looked it up -- Andy and Alan Benes, both former MLB pitchers from Evansville -- are his uncles. Benes is a baseball name; sorta thought there might be a relation, but wasn't sure. Seth's dad, Adam, also was pitcher -- but never quite made the majors. Class of '66 Old Fart 1 Quote

Aaron Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 So far team appears to not be taking the game seriously enough. Down 3-0 after 3.5 innings and lucky it is not much worse. Wind is blowing straight out and IU totally befuddled by this PFW pitcher. I admittedly know nothing about the guy they are facing but the fact that he is a midweek starter for a struggling team means Hoosiers should not have this much trouble. Every other team Mastodons have faced have had zero trouble hitting them with far lesser lineups. Admittedly weekday pitching is hit or miss but PFW doing fine hitting Indiana guys. Not overly concerned about this piece though. The fact though that the Hoosiers' potent lineup can't touch this guy to me speaks to a lack of focus. Have six innings for the offense to do what it is capable of and should be doing or suffer easily worst loss in several seasons. Team has been so dialed in to start season but today just not with it. Hopefully they wake up soon and survive. IU getting themselves in a rundown between first and second was ultimate example. Problem is runner at first survived the rundown but the runner at second forgot to take off so two players were on one bag. Definitely a focus issue today IU has only a few innings to correct. Right now this is painful to watch for an IU team that has done everything perfectly so far early on in 2024. Class of '66 Old Fart 1 Quote

Aaron Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 And now its 4-0 as PFW continues to dominate. Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 This is embarrassing. We've only managed 3 hits. Quote
mamasa Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 Nothing going well for the Hoosiers! I drove by this afternoon and it looked like a great crowd. I was hoping we’d have a blowout. Quote
LamarCheeks Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 Finally got on the board. Mastadons 8, Hoosiers 3 after 6. BTW -- love our unis. Red pinstrips with the script "Indiana." Very basic, very simple, very classic look. Quote
maharkn Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 Very mediocre play so far. Need the bullpen to be better. Giving up eight runs so far is terrible. Bats should start to pick upSent from my Pixel 6a using Tapatalk Quote
LamarCheeks Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 Mathison 3-run pop cuts Mastadons' lead to 8-6. Class of '66 Old Fart 1 Quote
Hoosierfan1901 Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 PUFW and IU never mix well together Quote
LamarCheeks Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 Cerney whiffs with the bases loaded and two out in the bottom of the 8th. Still 8-6. Quote
LamarCheeks Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 Thought I recognized PWF's coach -- he was the Toiletmakers' coach for 15 or so years. mamasa 1 Quote
LamarCheeks Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 PFW solo HR with 2 out in top of 9th. That makes it 9-6 and will probably just about take care of matters. Quote
Hoosierfan1901 Posted February 28, 2024 Posted February 28, 2024 Maybe we will have an explosive 9th inning, but we shall see Quote
TheWatShot Posted February 28, 2024 Posted February 28, 2024 Figures that we would crap the bed against a bad team at home after finally starting off strong in February. Class of '66 Old Fart 1 Quote
