#3 for '18. We just offered him a month or so ago when he was on campus.

3* F Ryan Wittenbrink - Libertyille, IL - TDS

@ryanwitt23: Happy to announce my commitment to play soccer at Indiana University! Thankful for all the people who helped me along the way #GoHoosiers

http://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/lake-county-news-sun/sports/ct-lns-boys-soccer-libertyville-ryan-wittenbrink-st-1117-20161116-story.html

Wittenbrink made his reputation last year by scoring both goals in the Wildcats' 2-1 Class 3A championship victory over Quincy, the first state title in the program's history.

Wittenbrink expanded his game this season and displayed resolve, skill and toughness. He scored 19 goals and registered 12 assists for Libertyville (15-4), which won the North Suburban and advanced to the championship game of the Class 3A Buffalo Grove Sectional last month.

For his achievements, Ryan Wittenbrink is the News-Sun Boys Soccer Player of the Year.

As a junior, Wittenbrink began the season at his natural forward position. The Wildcats lost two of their first three games, and opposing defenses sent two or three players at him constantly, trying to throw him off his rhythm. His fame preceded him. After the team's 1-2 start, coach Andy Bitta switched Wittenbrink to play an attacking midfielder.

"When we played him at forward, it was easy to double-team him because he was isolated, but by playing attacking midfielder, he had more room to move, go backward or forward," Bitta said.

"He's just a great goal-scorer. In soccer, some players are good passers, some are good defenders. Ryan is just a great goal-scorer and assist man, one who can make his own run or create for others." Libertyville won 14 of its next 15 games.

#5 for '18. 2* MF Ben Yeagley - Bloomington South. TDS

@benyeagley: Proud to announce that I have committed to continue my soccer career at Indiana University! #GoHoosiers

I am assuming this is Todd's son? Not ranked according to the link so I am not sure how talented he is relative to other recruits but hopefully he outplays his ranking. Rankings as I always say are a good guide but not a perfect measurement.

Yes, this is one of Todd's sons.

Been a few years since I've seen him play, but he has always been a cut above. Performs exceptionally for BS.

@SoccerFansclub1: Indiana recruit Ryan Wittenbrink named Boys Soccer Player of the Year - Chicago Tribune http://dlvr.it/Q3jQWQ

Expectations were high for Libertyville forward Ryan Wittenbrink entering this season after he scored 19 goals for the Wildcats as a junior in 2016.

In spite of constant attention from defenders, the Libertyville resident took his game to another level this fall. Wittenbrink scored 39 goals and collected 18 assists as the Wildcats reached the state championship game, which they lost 1-0 to Naperville North. Libertyville held a 13-5 edge in shots on goal in the loss.
