  1. I know some D2 coaching staffs from a previous life. One was recently runner-up for the championship and to a man they all say he's the GOAT. It's time to start sending letters and emails to Scott Dolson and Pete Yonkman. We need a break as a fan base. We've had a snowballing case of collective ptsd for a 1/4 century. I'm tired of looking at rosters, line-ups and game plans and knowing they won't work before the game starts. I know you are too. HoosierTrav if you wrote that post, that's the best forum post I've ever read. If you didn't please share the source so I van credit it.
  2. I just returned from a wonderful Mass. Side note, my Priest looks identical to Pat Kelsey. I made my monthly confession and feel great. So in the spirit of the original intent of this post I'd like to say, Woody wants the same things we do and more so wants to be the person to make that happen. He does however lack the ability to make it happen and goes about his business in a way that is insulting to those of us raised on The Bob Knight show. We were taught every Sunday by a master in his craft what winning, or at least what the pursuit of winning looks like. Brothers and sisters, I hope in this holiday season you have peace in your hearts.
  3. I think this guy could be retained by the next staff.

  5. I've been saying this since before the season started. Have to play defense on the perimeter and you have to split the bigs and you can't play Mgbako and Goode together if you plan on defending the perimeter. I'm happy to see that. Either big with Goode, Tucker, Leal and Galloway or Rice would be what I'd go with next game. Mgbako,,,I've bounced back and forth on. Is he lazy or dumber than a box of hair? It's probably both.
  6. Ok, I'm sold. I reached out to a couple of D2 lifers I know and they think this guy may be the best x's and o's guy at any level. A super player development guy, and culture builder. I'm going to start watching Drake.
  7. He committed knowing he would probably play for another coach. He wants to be at IU.
  8. This is his best. He has to know that it's not good enough. Is he so delusional that he can't see how bad this looks. Watching Louisville film, how did he think he could compete with that?
  9. Until we pick a big to start and go 4 out and quit playing Goode and Mgbako together we're going to look like s7it even if we do win. We have zero movement on offense and the big combinations can't defend.
  10. Yonkman is the only stakeholder that matters at this point. Woody had KPIs to exceed when he got the infusion of funds this year. He's done. Why you ask? He would have to completely change his philosophy strategically and that won't happen. We still have the 4th straight January losing streak coming as well.
  11. Man,,,,,man,,,again like I said,,,,man. Man
  12. I'm a huge fan of Schertz offense and the effort his teams play with, but there will be a huge effort made to land Pearl.
  13. He'll be a contributor next year. Depending on the coaching hire, he could start as a stretch 4, do a little bit of everything.
  14. We have some really good kids on this team. I feel bad for some of them. There's nothing about our current program that should inspire anyone. Pete put the money together and hire your boy.
  15. We have the best compilation of 8 players in the country if properly implemented. Jmo Bartorvok has us 17-12. This is it for Woody.
  16. The head coach that can be the face of the program is important. The personality of the coach will be the personality of the team. Then having the ability to spot and hire a staff that can break down film design a game plan and implement an offense and defense with options. They have to be cohesive with the coaches culture and be able to spot the players that fit that culture and successfully recruit them. Accountability and details + talent
  17. Woody and Archie's staff are so bad that this almost doesn't seem comical.
  18. Of my 53 years on earth, I've had a strong understanding of the game for 40+ years. Twice, I've had to step away from watching the team because it was foolish to put myself through it. I think this may very well be #3.
  19. I don't know if they were mentioned, but 2 guys I don't think are mentioned enough are D. Thomas and Randy Wittman. Especially Thomas. He played a lot of center before Garrett got there and took mountains of **** from coach but he never left and he was a tremendous college player.
  20. Quinn Buckner no longer has the room. Pete Yonkman stepped in to be the adult and did everything necessary, in good conscience, to move on from Woody at the end of this season. Somehow with all of this talent our roster looks poorly constructed and uninspired. The early signing period was a major strike against Woody, and the continous Mullins family feedback has made it worse. The Cignetti success hasn't done Woody any favors either. Woody had zero college coaching experience and the culture reflects that. No real team identity and an 82 game sense of urgency. I cross my fingers that we'll use the Cignetti template and move on Josh Schertz in March. We may very well be done playing before he is.
  21. Josh Schertz runs the best offense and his guys play hard on both ends. He doesn't have Cignetti swagger but came up a similar path. Sign me up.
  22. I think we have 7 impactful players. Goode would be 8. Right now it looks like we're doing Goode a favor by letting him play. With a chance to blow a team out and give your team a taste of what that looks like, I think you have to do it. That could've been a 50-25 first half. I like Carlyle but he needs the ball in his hands to get going and that's what he did last year...on a bad team. I think I would start the 2 bigs with Tucker, Galloway and Rice the next game and bring Mgbako and Carlyle in for Balo and Tucker. Play 7 guys, and see how we look, send a message to Mgbako. I'd like to sprinkle in a little bit of Newton if he's available, if not go with 7. Gonzaga we could do the same thing and just match their sub patterns. We're as talented at each position as they are. Now none of this do I see our staff doing.
  23. I think there is a world where we can have success this year and Woody can retire with us on the right track.
  24. Woodys last visit to a high school player as a college coach? I hope.
  25. Woody on the road to see the Viking savior.
