Bracketology and Team Resumes
IUHoosierJoe replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
The way things are looking right now, beating Ohio State would be huge. Some teams to keep an eye on are Miami FL, Missouri, California, Texas, and New Mexico. But there’s still a lot of ball to be played. That could all change. -
Back in the day, being the best fan base wasn’t a haughty idea, it was a fact. That’s what a lot of players said when they came here. That’s one of the things that drew them here. It’s funny that people can recognize that a sold out, loud Assembly Hall full of fans can help a team win, but can’t recognize what a Fire The Coach thread on one of the most visited IU fan sites, after 16 games of his tenure, can do. But yeah, sadly, you’re probably right. Being the best fan base is probably just a haughty idea now.

Yes, I agree. Just FYI, my problem with this thread isn’t that I am personally offended by it, and I’d never argue against anybody’s right to post whatever they want. And certainly, I have gotten as frustrated as anybody watching IU play basketball the past 30 years (except for 5 or 6 years in there). My problem with this thread, right now, is that it makes our fan base look ridiculous. Ridiculous to other fan bases, and ridiculous to potential future players. And I know you’re going to say ”we’re no worse than Kentucky’s fan base.” Well, I’ve had an IU diploma hanging on my office wall for over 35 years, and I’d like us to represent our school better than that idiotic fan base represents theirs.

That is correct. The only team above the WAB at-large "cut line" that didn't get in was West Virginia. They dipped down and took Xavier instead. -

To answer your question, one, there are a lot more teams packed closer together in rating values where Minnesota is at compared to where IU is ranked. And two, Minnesota was supposed to lose to MSU by more points than we were supposed to lose to Purdue, so there is a bigger rating adjustment in Minnesota’s case. -
I often think what would have happened is Pat would have taken over and the results would have been equivalent to or worse than Crean’s first year and he’d have gotten fired, with basically the same ugly aftermath as after Bob was fired.
-
I always find myself rooting for Pat because I think his level of honesty is really rare, especially these days. Unfortunately, he inherited some personality flaws that have really hurt him, and he didn’t inherit a shred of the coaching gene.

I was 100% serious when I predicted 12-0 in the record prediction thread for the 2025 season. And for 2026, my prediction is, once again, 12-0. Great times!

IUFB Recruiting and Transfer Portal Updates
IUHoosierJoe replied to Lebowski's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
Of course, kids can be motivated by whatever they want. But to leave a coaching staff that proven they can develop players—and therefore, their future earnings potential—far better than any other coaching staff in the country, is indeed objectively foolish. -
You might find out it isn’t as easy as just deciding who you want and they automatically come here.
-
So, from your last two posts…nobody wants to play for us, but great coaches want to coach for us…and apparently you think Dolson just hired the worst applicant of all the great coaches? I think some of you just self-soothe by pissing on the program no matter how little sense you make.
-
I think having the best rebounder on the team available for minutes would help with rebounding. It wouldn’t make us a good rebounding team, but it would make a glaring weakness a little less weak. How would his offense and defense translate? I don’t know. I haven’t seen him enough. But having him available would give us 5 more fouls and some rebounding once in a while.
-
What aren’t you sure about? Was Harris actually healthy in Puerto Rico? I mean, the stats are the stats, and everybody else’s rebounds per minute has pretty much translated.
-
One thing I would add that I don’t think anyone is considering or has posted…not having Josh Harris has hurt this team significantly. Yes, anyone could look at this roster and stats from last year and see that it was going to be a weak rebounding team. Josh Harris grabbed .314 rebounds per minute last season, the best of anyone on the roster. And while big men don’t usually have as much success with offensive numbers when they go from a mid-major to a power school, rebounding often translates. So, not having Harris has made a glaring weakness much worse.
