COVID let IU have 2 good seasons since at that time it seemed to affect us less than other teams. In the long run, it looks like it will hurt IU more than most since it resulted in the ridiculous Allen contract extension.

Given that it's IU football, I wouldn't be surprised to see the AD double down on the s****y product. Knowing that everyone in the world knows it's jut a matter of time before Allen is fired, they'll not only give Allen a verbal vote of confidence but also announce a contract extension that will guarantee that IU can't afford to fire him until 2040 at the earliest. The administration will then pat themselves on the back thinking, "That should do it. Now recruits won't be afraid to come here thinking the HC will be fired in 2 years. They will know he'll be here they whole time they are."

Not only is that an amazing record, but he did it in only 7+ seasons! I would think this is a mistake but it was on the TV so it has to be true. Doubly so since that picture from the TV was posted on the internet. Everyone knows TV and the internet don't lie, right?

Good point. Even worse

My first thought when reading this was that Phinisee has gotten worse during his college career. My second thought was look at all that mid-major talent Miller brought to IU (all except Durr and, I think, Moore). Franklin is the only in that list who isn't.

Spill the beans. What's the inside scoop? :) -
They've already reined it in a bit. There are now shorter windows in which to enter the portal for immediate eligibility the next season. This is different because he's a grad transfer. So maybe a grad transfer could do as you say (I'm not sure, there might be rules against that already) but this wouldn't apply to the majority of athletes, if so.

I'm going to keep a close eye on that 15th team this whole season.

THAT is getting screwed by the officials.

I'm shocked by this. Absolutely floored. Really. Wait, what? Have money lined up NOW for when they fire him in a few YEARS but not money to fire him? It doesn't make any sense to wait to start to make upgrades to facilities as those aren't coach dependent. I'm confused. Just another indicator at why IU football sucks.

From an ESPN post game article about UNC: "That UNC is one unusual preseason No. 1. According to ESPN Stats & Information research, it is just the fourth such team in 62 years to lose three consecutive games." https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/35153223/is-panic-former-no-1-north-carolina-three-consecutive-losses

I didn't realize that until reading these last few posts. That makes his contract look sooo much worse than I already thought it was. The big buyout is only so that IU won't fire Allen, not to keep others from poaching him. So it's just protecting the coach, not the school, in essence. Such a terrible contract. With moves like this, IU deserves to suck at football.

I think if a player on a team the committee is looking at is injured towards the end of the season, they take into account whether that player will be available for the NCAAT. I think this happens only if they're unsure whether that team should be in the tournament or not and/or seeding purposes. For example, if one of a team's starters is injured in February, the committee might take into account that if that player is expected to be back in time for the tournament or not as far as evaluating where that team deserves to be. I'm pretty sure they don't go through a team's whole resume and evaluate who was or wasn't available to play on each team for each and every game. I have a hard time believing in March that they'll look back at the IU/UNC game in November and discount it because certain players were injured. The NET, which the committee uses, does not care who does or doesn't play.

UCLA needs to do a lot of work before they'll be battling for 4th. They haven't been consistently good for some time now.

Even when they are expected to lose and do, IU football still finds ways to disappoint. How very IU football of them. -
The only thing that keeps me in any way interested in IUF during this offseason is to get rid of Allen. That's not happening. At least this train wreck of season is over. 9 more months before we start what will most likely be another 2-3 win season and that much closer to a buyout IU might be willing to pay.

At least some of that is due to the line being slightly closer on the corners. It's not so much closer that there is that much of difference between the corners and the top of the key, though, so there must be some other factors. I guess in the corner the players might be more likely to be set and shoot in rhythm. Transition threes and others off the dribble might be more likely from the top of the key.
