  1. The competition is better than early in the season. Also, more games to use for scouting reports on him.
  2. Also losing Kopp. So best case is "just" losing 4 starters. With these injuries we've gotten some glimpses of what the team might look like next year and the results haven't inspired confidence in me.
  3. You choose to come to message boards. You can unfollow people who talk about sports on social media so you don't see their criticisms (or just not go social media sites). Plus, letting others' opinions bother you is also your choice. So if it's not as fun because of those things that's on you.
  4. They also have a more recent NC than IU and have been to multiple FF since IU's last one. UCLA post HoF coach > IU post HoF coach
  5. Howland was at UCLA for 10 years and all 3 of those Final Fours were during the first 5 years. The second 5 years there, the winning percentage dropped as well as no NCAAT success: 1 year missed tournament and 1st or 2nd round loses the other 4 years. Howland also seemed to lose the team's confidence and IIRC there were some major transfers out of the program. So it was those 5 years and the negative momentum of the program which got him canned, not that 3 Final Fours weren't good enough.
  6. Yep, good teams can overcome injuries and still be good. In '93, IU loses one of the better players in IU history (top 10? 15? 20?) when Henderson blew it his knee. They still won the conference (with only 1 loss), got a #1 seed, and made it to the elite eight. That was a much better team than this one before the season which is why they could overcome it and this team can't.
  7. Ugh. Peegs and his team with the annoying cryptic sayings.
  8. The problem is they need to get enough wins to make the tournament. If they don't they aren't scary to anyone regardless how good they may be at that time. Winning on the road it tough but this was a very winnable game, even with the injuries. Iowa just isn't very good this year.
  9. One play that really stands out in my mind concerning effort last night happened early in the second half. Iowa missed a shot and the rebound went a little long. 4 IU players just stood there and watched the ball hit the ground. Only 1 IU player, I think it was Kopp, made any effort to get it. He had to run over from 10-15 feet away. 2-3 other IU players were closer and should've gotten to it first but they just stood still. It was ridiculous.
  10. We've been hearing about that promise based purely on his athleticism for 3 years now. He's not VO and hasn't developed into a good player. It seems for every good play he makes he offsets that with 2-3 bad plays.
  11. Top 25 defense when healthy, sure. Now? No way with XJ out, TJD with lingering health issues, and now Race is injured. They gave up 91 points and let Iowa shoot almost 48%. That's not a top 25 defensive effort. It's also just a matter of time before JHS starts having back spasms òr Galloway gets injured again.
  12. Leaving Murray wide open is not a good idea. Whose blown assignment?
  13. How do 9 players on the floor just stand there and watch the ball after a miss?
  14. If he wants it, yes. I highly doubt he'll use it.
  15. I've never even seen a delay of have warning for a player throwing the ball to a ref, either. It was a terrible call. Of course, the officials then make another terrible call in a play that involved Geronimo by allowing that basket. Geronimo making lots of bad plays and the officials suck.
  16. I'm a bit behind but the T on Geronimo was a garbage call. Players do that all the time.
  17. Broken foot. He had surgery to hopefully accelerate recovery.
  18. I didn't really get their preseason hype but they're even worse than I thought they'd be. I love it.
  19. UConn down 10 with ~8.5 to go at Providence.
  20. My first thought was, "takes one to know one."
  21. No what? I asked no yes/no questions. Care to elaborate?
  22. I agree with you but at least he's from NC.
  23. A saw that a week after Brees was hired that the company cut ties with him. Not the other way around and not before the hire. Brees was hired on the 15th and PointsBet announced that they had cut ties with him on the 22nd.
