If PU goes on a 15 game losing streak, it shows they aren't as good as thought. Why should Rutgers get credit for beating a quad 1A team when that team is actually quad 2? The rankings get more accurate the more data they have. Should teams be penalized for winning a game against a team that is better than thought? Let's say Team A beats Team B in December. At the time of the win, Team B is quad 2. Team B goes on a tear after the loss and ends up quad 1A. Should Team A get credit for beating a quad 2 or quad 1A? I say quad 1A. The rankings at the end of the season are the most accurate they can be and take the fluctuations during the season into account. Those are the most fair to use.

From the score, it looks like PU's football team was more interested in the basketball game than their bowl game.

I disregarded his rankings pretty quickly. He's either biased against IU or he's so set on appearing unbiased on regards to IU that he over emphasizes the bad and under values the positives. UConn losing to Xavier barely hurt them but IU beating Xavier doesn't really help them.

No need for Latin based number words at all. Group, class, category, cluster, set, or type are all words that would have worked just as well as quadrants and are more flexible since they don't specify a certain number of divisions. Sextants would have the same problem as quadrants if they wanted to further divide them in the future.

B1G s#!ts the bed in the playoff. 50% of the playoff teams, 0 in the championship game. Reminds me of the B1G in the NCAAT the past few years.

So, in effect, there are actually 6 quads now? "Quads" appears to be a bad name for them and shows a lack of foresight. The NCAA lacking foresight is shocking, I'm sure, but here we are.
-
Yep, those first couple of the weeks of the season were fools gold. B1G started regressing to the mean during the ACC challenge.

Yeah, but this is the first time I remember seeing tampering accusations being thrown around in the media instead of just on message boards. I might have missed some others, of course.

Rumblings of tampering. Apparently it was known he'd end up at ND before even entering the portal.

Indiana Vs Kennesaw State 12/23/22 7pm BTN Game Thread

I'm not convinced JG is even better than Race at FT shooting. While JG is sitting 70% so far this season, I'm not sure he can maintain that rate unless he improved significantly in that one aspect of his game in the off-season (while not improving much in all others). Even including this season, he's only ~54% career FT shooter. Race is ~63% for his career. -

This preview of next year's team doesn't inspire a lot of optimism in me. -

IU fans aren't worried, scared, or even more than scared (terrified?) of Kennesaw State. There is some angst, but it's about the season as a whole based on performances in the 3 losses and injuries (XJ, in particular) but not your team. -
Not sad we missed on him.

IUBB vs Elon - Tuesday, 12/20/22 @ 7:00 on BTN

Or can he? The rim disagrees. PXL_20221221_185232778.mp4 Just kidding. He had some plays where he flew. This just struck me as funny. -
Let's hope that JHS doesn't get more back spasms. If he does, all we really have for a PG is TG and he's not a point.

How far away is IUBB from being elite again?
go iu bb replied to southernindianahoosier2's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
It's not that those are the cause by any means. It's more of death by a thousand cuts. There are a bunch of small things that other schools which have been better than IU recently are doing that IU isn't. These all add up to make those schools more attractive to top recruits, in addition to them winning more often than IU. It just makes the path back to the top that much harder. -

Day-to-day and no MRI makes it sound like they don't think it's too serious. I certainly hope that is the case. At least the next game he might actually be needed in is not until Jan 5 so that's 2 and a half weeks to heal. -

Did he say if he'd had an MRI or not? -

If those were close games and IU only lost each by a few points, I doubt we'd be having this conversation. Instead, they got blown out in all 3 and just didn't look good at all. Kind of like the last few years, hence some concern. -

Before Miller, Crean was at IU for 9 years. That's not anywhere close to 5 years. This idea that IU is constantly changing coaches is false. If you don't think the coaches are to blame, which one after Knight would you have kept? Davis? Uh, no. Started strong but after Knight's players left it went downhill quickly. He wasn't ready and isn't a P5 level coach anyways. Sampson? Great coach but terrible in just about every aspect. Crean? He had some good years but he also had some terrible years. His last year wasn't good and it didn't look like it would get better, which is why he was let go. His stint afterwards shows that was a good move. Miller? lol, h*ll no. -

I would also add that there is this (accurate, imo) idea that IU is stuck in the past. Something as simple as uniforms can help feed that idea when they look out of date. Modernizing them might help quash that idea a bit. -

You're taking credit for that? What did you personally do to help IU win those titles and go to those final fours? Why did you stop doing it? If you want to take credit for IU's past success, I'll also blame you for IU's current woes. -
As IU saw during the previous coach's reign, that only works if you have good players and good coaches. When the players improve year over year, that is a great strategy for being consistently good. When they don't improve, it's a recipe for mediocrity.

I think RPI and Kenpom are still using some data from last season while NET is only the current season. IIRC, it's not until some time in January before RPI and Kenpom don't depend on the previous season.

Further away from elite than I was hoping for entering the season. I'm not upset at the record, going 2-2 in the tough non-con games. But now the team is 1-3 in the last 4 games and those 3 loses they got blown out. They did beat UNC but, quite frankly, UNC was not playing well at the time and the game was at home. The losing isn't what bothers me, but how they lost. Despite the team's experience, they still don't know how to win, or even play well, on the road. Of course, JHS was out for 2 of those 3 loses and XJ got hurt in the other. That doesn't help but injuries are part of the game. Good teams can overcome. They got beaten so badly in those loses that I don't think being fully healthy would've mattered all that much anyways. Unless they figure out how to play away from home, I think this is looking like a middle of the pack B1G team and not one competing for a conference championship. The Xavier win was nice, but that is looking more like an outlier than the norm.
