Is Thomas Bryant going to declare for the draft?
IU Bud replied to Brass Cannon's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Too early to say. Reputations can be made in March. His performance against quality opponents will raise or lower his chances to be drafted. -
It will be interesting if Northern Illinois is able to go in place of Minnesota..These things always seem to work out and the teams end up playing. I believe Missouri had a similar issue and they were able to settle the issue and play. They have so much to lose if they don't play. I will be surprised if a last minute deal is made, but it will be difficult.

I have heard good things directed towards Newkirk. Bielfeldt after the season mentioned that Josh is a good leader. Newkirk was given credit to a late improvement in defensive play once he could begin practice. While Zeisloft wasn't a stellar defender, Crean gave Newkirk credit for Z's improvement after RoJo went down. From what I have seen in clips and comments, Josh has a burst of quickness that allows him to put pressure on defenders. He can be a very good replacement if he can get into the lane and make plays without turning the ball over. He won't have to score like Yogi, but he needs to do the other things Yogi did.

It is Fast Friday. Teams won't be holding back or testing race setups. It is all about laying that wing back and showing what they have. I like the old days when teams competed to post the fastest times of the day and changed to qualification engines to push speed over reliability for those 4 laps. I also miss the T cars that drivers would jump in to test setups and sometimes put another driver in to qualify. Now we are limited by the engines Honda and Chevy can supply and the deals needed to get more than 33 cars entered. It is still the Greatest Spectacle but it used to have so much more drama and emotion.

Swanigan and Williams both seem to be looking at any excuse to not come back I can understand why Swanigan wouldn't want to go back to WL.

Probably Ricky Pitino.

Prayers for you Geometry Hoosier. I worked for a firm that designed many of those furnaces. I designed many of the molds in the HDC area. It is a shock they are shutting that down. Hopefully you can find something within the plant. Toyota will be hiring. They have said many of you guys would be a good fit.

He grew up a diehard IU fan like many of us that could only dream to put the uniform on and run out on the court. My daughters boyfriend moved to Zionsville before their senior year. She went up to go to a homecoming dance with her boyfriend. They double dated with Jackson and got to know him pretty well. She pointed him out during one of the games she went to. He has to be thrilled.

My son got me a Bob Knight autographed picture of the 1987 White House visit. The picture shows Knight presenting Reagan with a red blazer. It is in a beautiful frame with a certificate of authenticity. My son did very good this year!

Tom Crean and his one dimensional players
IU Bud replied to Iufan2324's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
These players are on a business trip. When I go on a business trip, I take care of business and if there is time then have fun. IU got to Hawaii and seem to have been all over the place. The players lost the game, but Crean playing tour guide led to it. -
Thomas Bryant is good at basketball.

CREIGHTON BLUEJAYS @ INDIANA HOOSIERS - 7 PM EST on BTN - GAME THREAD

They are picked to finish 7th or 8th in the Big East. Supposed to have shooters, but struggled on D last year. Sounds familiar. -
What is wrong with goats? They have been bringing luck to Cardinal fans for 70 years!

The opponent doesn't matter. Wake Forest nearly came back from a big 4th quarter deficit. They aren't good. Rutgers was down 25 points and won. They aren't good. We gave up nearly the same amount of late points to MSU. They are good. The result is the same and that is really all that matters.
-
They just ran the ball. Our poor play allowed two long 4th quarter rushing touchdowns. The were trying to just run out the clock. Then we almost give the ball back to them on MSU's last kick off. We blew a 25 point lead last week and 24 straight points late today. Any positive feelings I had in the first half were destroyed by a continued pattern of 4th quarter dumpster fires. We almost handed Wake Forest the game in the 4th quarter. It is a disturbing pattern.
-
We earned and deserve that score. Two straight games where we collapse in the 4th quarter. The halftime score and playing a team close into the third quarter means nothing when you give up late, long rushing scores during a time you should be expecting runs. Anyone expect anything different against Iowa and Michigan?

Defensive strategy for upcoming season
IU Bud replied to Iufan2324's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
We don't have to press. Half court traps are effective, but the way we played team defense last year doesn't give me a lot of hope we could trap and still defend. We just need to be aggressive and stop reacting and start anticipating what the other team is doing. We were so unaware last year of what the other team was trying to do. Eastern Washington drove to the basket all night and Hanner hid behind their post player and watched. I was never so frustrated with a player. -
Jaquan Lyle Confirms Escort Allegations
IU Bud replied to monskisprodigy's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Burkhart is a clown on the sidelines. Lyle was good to get away from him. It would have taken a lot to teach JaQuan how to act, but he had no chance with Shane. Burkhart was butt hurt when the Duncans picked Harrison over Bosse, He made it personal when those teams got together. That rubbed off on his players, especially Lyle. He was especially unsportsmanlike when those teams played. Bosse got rid of Jeff Hein (now at Vincennes) when he tried to instill discipline. They hired the opposite type of coach in Burkhart. -
I guess it got ugly on Twitter between Dakich and Lyle's old high school coach Shane Burkhart. It isn't often I agree with Dakich. http://www.courierpress.com/sports/Bosse-coach-Dan-Dakich-battle-on-Twitter-over-JaQuan-Lyle-331306702.html

I held my breath worried he would accept an offer from IU. He somehow got my daughters cell number and used to call her often. It got annoying for her. Besides having a boyfriend she couldn't stand his attitude on or off the court. A couple weeks after he hooked up with the hooker, he gave his verbal commitment to UL. Then of course he changes his mind, or UL did. Lyle was seen in an Evansville bar, Pistons, on Friday 10/2. According to an article, OSU started practice on Tuesday. My thoughts that he was no longer with the team were wrong. OSU says his involvement with the hooker won't get Lyle in hot water. So, players that accept free gifts in the form of prostitutes don't get punished, but players with guardians that are members of the Varsity Club and get a few stickers get game suspensions?

JaQuan Lyle to OSU
IU Bud replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
My son told me that Jaquan was in Evansville Friday night at a popular bar for 21-25 year olds. If OSU was like IU, they would have had their first practice that day. It would be hard for Lyle to get to Evansville and get back for a Saturday practice. I am curious if he is still with the OSU basketball program.
