They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread
HoosierInParadise replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Maybe he should do the scouting report for the Purdue game on Friday? All the scouting reports and/or execution of them the entire season have been awful.... -

Those of you that want Crean as the interm, why not just give it to Hulls? He helped bring the program back from the depths and worked his tail off to do so. He knows what it takes. Of course, there is the argument that Woodson should know how to do this since he learned from one of the best, but still.... Also, no one would ever expect Hulls to keep the job regardless of the level of success he achieves with the team. -

Totally agree! The silence from administration is only coming across as weak leadership at this point. There is to much noise to be silent. If admin wants to wait till the end if the season to move on it, then come out and say it. Make a statement that it won't be decided on until the end of the season. But that the same time, if you're going to do that, just let him go now. We are pretty well past the time for him to be able to get a positive victory lap with the way this team is playing and the way he is coaching/not coaching... -

It's been said they could fire him tomorrow or Monday...call me crazy, but I'll remain hopeful for that scenario. It's the only solution that doesn't annoy the crap out of me.... -

I would imagine the interim title would come with a different contract for the coach that is chosen to do it. IU can write into that contract that by entering into the interim position, the interim cannot be a candidate for the head coach vacancy. I have seen this done with interim superintendents in the school system. -

Does anyone here think this win solidified a 5th year for MW? Just curious if there is anyone that thinks this? -

I feel like the entire goal of Mike Woodson's tenure at IU was accomplished when Bob Knight came out onto the court. That's it....I don't think QB cared about wins and losses or anything else. QB and MW wanted to be the ones to bring Bob Knight back... Sent from my SM-S928U using BtownBanners mobile app -

If it's someone like Stevens that is not necessarily needing to wait until the end of his season to leave his current job...just hire him now and have him start coaching at next Wednesday's game against NW. This would not only stop any and all boycotting at the next home game....it would be a wild and crazy sell out! Sent from my SM-S928U using BtownBanners mobile app -

Didn't he even take a "sick day" when we played Iowa at home that year because he was feeling the heat and Alford was coming to town? Sent from my SM-S928U using BtownBanners mobile app -
I am with you....but with all that happened on our previous drive that ended in a field goal, and the fact that we just took all potential momentum from them...twice on their last drive, maybe it was just time to regroup in the locker room and not give them any reason to feel good going into half. Caleb Love - UNC Transfer to Arizona
HoosierInParadise replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I will say that I have not watched Caleb Love play very much but I see that he is described a lot as a ball hog. Could it be the case, like Bracey Wright, where he is a perceived ball hog but his coach was telling him to take as many shots as he can. I'm Basically wondering if Hubert Davis thought that the best version of his team last year included Love hogging the ball. I not saying it's a smart move but I am saying that Mike Davis did that with Bracey and it made everyone think Bracey was selfish and a ball hog. I think I read too much into your original post. I get what you are saying and agree that IU has stepped it up in the NIL era so far. Some of our fan base like to act like IU has never operated in the grey areas of recruiting. When comparing IU to other programs, I understand what you are getting at. I think we've always played in the grey when it comes to recruiting. I just don't think we have been very good at it over the last 25+ years. Sent from my SM-F936U1 using BtownBanners mobile app -

There are too many to list. JHS's backcourt teammate, Xavier Johnson, was sitting next to him on the bench all season as a physical reminder as to why JHS should go to the NBA if he has the chance. Sent from my SM-F936U1 using BtownBanners mobile app

I agree with this. Another dimension that probably that went into the decision about the offense was who was able to be on the floor for defense. Woody didnt trust the defense of the guys that could help run a modern offense. Either way....IU is a mess that needs to be cleaned up. Sent from my SM-F936U1 using BtownBanners mobile app
