I agree.....can you imagine what posts we would see if we were to pass on a kid with some proven level of talent from another conference and Leal doesn't help in any way on the court? That type of move would typically have portions of this fanbase calling for the firing of the coach for mismanagement of the roster in the off-season. I don't understand why this would be the "PR nightmare" some are making this out to be. Even if Leal was creaned and kicked off the team, the headlines would be about how our roster was further upgraded and solidified as a Big Ten contender. This is based on the assumption that the "big bad coach" is telling Leal he has to give up his scholarship to stay on the team. What if Leal came to him and volunteered to give it up? What if the parents met with Coach Woodson and told him to do whatever is necessary to build the best team possible, including using their son's scholarship? Some have said that we need selfless people, regardless of talent, at the end of the bench taking up scholarship 10-13. Maybe Leal is being as selfless as some would like him to be? I understand that. On the other hand, 13 are given for a reason. If it only takes 7-8 talented players then only allow schools to use 8 and the rest can be walk-ons. I don't know.....the college game has changed. Get as much talent as possible with all 13. We saw what it looked like when we were 5 players down at NW. If practices are packed with talent, it just makes everyone better. However, someone has to be the worst out of 13. Maybe LD is the better example of this than Leal. I think you support and grow your teammates, co-workers, subordinates, etc. until they give large enough reason to where you can't. It's scary that some react as though this is a no-brainer with respect to getting rid of him.
