That statement won't shut anything down....it was weak if the intent was to shut it down. -

Just because details aren't in the media doesn't mean they aren't factual details? There are high profile business deals done all the time where the people that know about what went on are the people in the room and the people that they talk to. Stuff spreads because people in the room can't be trusted to keep it quiet.....hence the need for smokescreens. -

And really still nothing official has been reported except for "sources say....blah blah blah" -

I'm with you. I am questioning in my head why other media outlets are not all over this. Yes, a couple places (SI and Insidethehall) are reporting the original quote, but most are completely avoiding it. For example, unless I missed it, I haven't heard Benetti or Hummel bring it up at all during the broadcast of the game. I also haven't seen it come across ESPN, CBS sports, etc. Seems like too big of news to not say anything at all. -

If it was a smokescreen, it was extremely effective. I've never seen such a 180 over a statement with zero substance. "Love the people I get to work with"? Sounds more of a let them down easy statement. Why not say, "as I've stated in years past, I have no interest in the Indiana job"? It's seems pretty easy to deny something clearly when you don't want it.... -

So if they end up being right, a 6 month ban for those that are drilling them right now? -

Everyday is the same cycle....good news in the morning and those looking ti discredit in the afternoon/evening. Probably lands somewhere in the middle and I'm not buying that it's over with Stevens and his super weak quote. Honestly, to not get a more definitive statement tells me that some of the stuff said on this site could definitely be true... -

I'm still not convinced that it's over with Stevens. This board is brutal to those that come with info. The coach hasn't been hired or announced and they are being ran over when the media report was pretty weak. -

Later today, someone will come on here saying....."we got Brad Stevens?...but he hasn't coached in years....Cronin is coaching now!" -

This is no doubt cryptic info about flights....or there was an actual cupid sighting. -

But with NIL, the transfer portal, and the right hire, that championship could come as early as next season... I agree that with our steady decline the last 25 years it seems like we should be following a slower progression to get back, but it's all different and we don't have to necessarily wait for all those steps. -

4 years is a long time. There are job opportunities I haven't taken but wished I had years later...things change over the course of a few years. However, with Dusty May, he hasn't even been there a year. I'm not buying that there is any greater chance that he comes over Brad Steven's situation... -

I get what you are saying here, but how is Dusty May any more believable or possible than Brad Stevens? He's only been in his current job for under a year. I would say that conventional thinking would make Dusty May more of a long shot than Brad Stevens... -

Geez...everyone is just having fun with the theories and info that comes out. I guess I just don't understand when people want to either squash it, put an end to it, or make everyone that is enjoying it, feel stupid for doing so. So I came back with my response. Not sure why you have to get upset about it.... -

Exactly....no dad has ever missed one of his sons games because of anything related to his occupation. Being that he would be the first, such a transgression would make him not hireable... -
