I wouldn't count them out. Va Tech is in the ACC and Franklin has a really nice pipeline in DMV (An IUFB pipeline and we'll be losing recruits to them), two CFP wins under his belt and an INT away from playing in the National Championship. Showing my age here but having personal experience with Blacksburg, back in the early 90s, the overall community culture in that neck of the woods are pretty fanatic about football. Moreso than folks in Bloomington prior to Coach Cig. What I'm saying here is coaching matters and the Hokies upgraded. Personally, I see them competing for the ACC and CFP championship in the coming years. I could be wrong of course. But ultimately, PSU really messed up letting Franklin go.

No clue but as some have already noted a lot of these players have agents and they're getting paid to find spots. If I had to guess, and it's a complete guess pulling out of my tukus, I'd say a lot have a very short list already lined up or at least a good idea of their market value. I guess it just all depends on how good the agent is at doing his/her job in the grand scheme of things.

This one to me was a head scratcher. If it was the staff related, makes me wonder if he regressed this year. It also might have been he got a better NIL offer and IUFB wasn't going to match.

A Cignetti coached QB has earned All-Conference honors in the last four seasons (I'm assuming it'll be five seasons with The Nandolarian). Cole Johnson, is the only QB that put his time in and is the only one named CFPA National Player of the Year.

The IUFB program started Nov. 30th, 2023. The recruiting 'experts' are now adjusting to it. And it's glorious!!

Bigger problems for PSU than us though.

Keep in mind every year is retention of the current roster. So there's a re-recruiting process if that makes sense. With the current roster, I can only think of 5 reasons (there might be more) why the staff would actively pursue a QB in the transfer portal. Someone on the roster decides to transfer out The staff pursues someone on the roster to transfer out We are unable to retain someone on the roster (this is related to the first point) Injury (for example: Tyler Cherry's season ending injury that occurred last December) Someone on the roster decides to end his career/retire The coaching staff will more than likely get contacted by multiple players in the portal. But again, I'm not sure the staff is actively looking if that makes sense.

Every QB on the current roster will get a fair shake at the job. Don't count out #16. His resume before D1 football was better than #15's. We're in excellent shape at the position. Who knows what next year brings but make no mistake, the current QB room is in good shape.

A spot to put all the recruiting and transfer portal updates/news. I'm not sure where to create this. I contemplated of placing recruiting news in this here but then though it should be separate.

There's no such thing as a "viable possibility" when it comes to rivalries. In my experience, expect the unexpected. Payback will most certainly be on their minds. Just because the team turnover is high doesn't change the uniform they're wearing. It's the freaking Bucket game. These two teams are gonna strap it up. Let's hope we break those effs will like we did last year.

Last year's curb stomp on those effs up north probably still has a salty taste in their locker room up there. Throw the records out the window. I expect this game to be chippy and hard nosed.
